I have a 91 sambar that is hard to shift in the lower gears on first drive of the day. I suspect the tranny fluid might be low, how do you check this and what oil will it take? It has the extra low 1st gear. Many thanks in advance.

My 06 does this in second gear; I really have to slam it down hard to get it to stay in second. Think its the same thing?

Go to a car wash and blast the Transmission then spry on a little oil. (My hijet starting to stick when I got lots of mud stuck up into it)

or you may have a stick stuck up under the truck.

There is a plug on the side of the transmission. Remove it and stick your finger in the hole. (hehe)

There should be gear oil right close to the bottom of the hole. If not, top it up!

running synthetic in the tranny ,trans. case ,and diffs is a must to run these little buggers in the harsh northern climates..if transmission fluid is good,I would swap to synthetic anyway just for the peace of mind....you may also find you unlock a bit more performance/mileage as well
