so about 4-5 months ago it stopped.
had to drag it out of the woods with the john deere
got it back up to the house
    no fuel press
screwed with it for a while...
    walked away
came back about a month ago and installed a low pressure pump from box store
    cleaned carb
    drained tank
    replaced fuel
    replaced the fuel filter
    still wouldn't hit a lick
    snorted the batch.... nothing
    WTF
    spark...yup
    WTF.....
pulled the timing cover and found that the belt was 1/2 torn thru and apparently the timing is way off.
the new belt and water pump were installed 2 yrs ago and maybe 300 miles ago.....
    again.....
    WTF
new belt and tensioner on the way

off subject... anybody got a box store replacement for the fan thermo switch....

    cleaned everything up
installed the belt and got the cam timing off....rotated the dizzy 180.....
    happy day
parked it in the creek last night and drank wine listening to the bubbly water...

the timing instruction was perfect.... i looked at the yellow mark....that was on the wrong t mark......

I was working on changing the timing belt on my 91 carry today.
What's up with that yellow line ?
Are you supposed to use the T mark in the peephole or the yellow mark ?
It seems to come up when I line up the pulleys with the marks .
    Any advice would be appreciated.
