Found any "prizes" in your mini?

I've had my Carry for about 4 years now and the other day the little ash-tray-looking-thinggy wouldn't stay in the closed position. I took it out and found a couple of my old receipts mashed in behind it. Then I found what looked like 2 credit card receipts that are Japanese. Behind them I could barely see some other paper of some kind and had to get a long pair of needle nose pliers to get to it. Ended up pulling 2- 1000 Yen bills from back there! Still crisp and in great shape!

Most of you are probably wondering what that's worth, much like I was, so I rushed right in and Googled a money calculator...$19.75 cents for 2000 Yen.

I've had a lot of fun with them by trying to pay for stuff with them. I even put them in the church offering plate the other day. You should have seen the look on the ladies faces when they started counting up the money!

Now how many of you are heading out to check in the dash of your mini? Any other unusual finds out there?

    Have a blessed day!

I found a wallet behind my dash, no money or ID but it was full of business cards. I did find some change under the floor mat.

My Hijet came with a package of pamphlets in Japanese. When I got around to looking at them, I discovered that they were all safe-driving brochures apparently aimed at teenagers. Not one word or picture about the truck itself. In the glove compartment was the cover for the fuse panel--very valuable because it indicates what fuse goes with what. There were some little green beads of unknown composition in the ashtray. They are still there. Might have something to do with hunting. The truck came with a little jack and key for the lug nuts. There is another little jack under the passenger seat.

Samurai9, I had the pleasure to live in Japan for 4 years and I'm sure the green beads in the ashtray are stink good stuff. A lot of cars I rode in while stationed in Japan had verious colors of beads in the ash trays to freshen the air.

    We have had:

Yen, Wallets, Blankets, Radar Detectors, Cell phones, a Prada bag (New in package) socks. (Lots of socks actually) towels, small tools, small toys, all kinds of oddball airfreshners....

All my truck had was 1 yen in the ashtray. I figured someone put it there for good luck.

i found a pachinko ball under the mat.
  9. How about some candy from Disneyland Tokyo? Didn't really want to try it though. :p It was individually wrapped hard candy, like a mint. I've also found some Yen, credit card receipts, keychains and the like. Kind of interesting, though. Now I'm looking forward to my next scavenging hunt, er, shipment to come in! :D

Oh, our load yesterday had a small bottle of some sort of alcohlic smelling beverage. I wonder who will be crazy enough to try it. Haha.

Not so much Japan but when you travel to Taiwan/China, be wary of anything that they say is "good for health". Be DOUBLY wary if they say it's "good for man"! ;)

Oh, and the bead thing. I've seen inventory pics on some of the mini-truck sites with a shot of the ashtray showing the beads in them! Yes...smell good stuff.

After 39 years in the "car business", I could write a book on the things left in the "trade-ins". A few of the "chapters" would have to be "XXX" rated!

I just found some brochure full of what look like coupons. I have no idea what they are for.
  14. We found a GIANT spider under the dash, it was almost 7" across and we had to kill it with brake parts cleaner. What was scary was it didn't run, it JUMPED, scared us to death:eek:

  15. Those are for free oil changes at all Japanese Jiffy Lubes.* I included those free of charge. :D

    * Transportation to an authorized facility is the resposibility of the owner. ;)

Must have missed those when I was cleaning them out.

My van has a Japanese road flare clipped onto the firewall close to the passengers feet. Also, I can see that there were some vinyl decals on the back window. It says "M-cat" and then lists a phone number. Must have been a business vehicle. Coming from Japan, I'd assume it was a food service delivery vehicle to exquisite Japanese restaurants...."mmmmm, cats!"

Found some kind of coin under the dash. Looked like it had fallen through a heater duct many moons ago. :D

Encouraged by the treasure hunters here, when I was cleaning up the cab of my new '90 Carry I carefully looked everywhere. Much to my surprise, I found absolutely nothing.

Guess I need to start disassembling the dash :p
