1996 Daihatsu Hijet Twin Cam 12V 4x4. Stock now, I don’t really want to do any lift modifications and hoping this tire will work . I will do adapters if I have too but prefer not to. Found the tires I would like (Forceum 165/80R13) to get but need help locating a suitable rim/wheel. Want to get 4 and a spare so 5. I ran across a forum discussion previously about how it was done. For the life of me I can no longer find it. Had the necessary offsets and wheel manufacturer they used. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
As an alternative I’ve been looking at tire and wheel packages from Japan on eBay. Japan-smile_52 has some really nice ones. Have any of you gone that route before? Experience was good or bad? Any surprises like hidden fees or something else? Like this “Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. I own a 2008 Hijet and these are the tire sizes that will fit my truck without lifting the truck: 155/70R12 155/55R14 155/65R13 165/70R12 145/80R12 165/55R14 165/65R13 165/50R15 155/70R13 155/80R12 165/60R14 165/45R16 155/65R14 165/70R13 145/80R13 165/55R15 155/60R15 145/65R15 165/65R14 I have tried the Forceum 165/80R13 and the much taller Forceum 27x8.5R14, and both need at least a 2" lift to fit in, being 23.4" and 27" tall respectively. I have a 2" lift on my truck and run a 165/65R15 Nanking but not overly impressed with the tire as it makes for some added slippin and sliding on wet roads. I put on 175/65R15 rims and tires from our 2017 Yaris and they were a noticible improvement in ride and handling as well this is a rather common tire size and lots of selection for street use and some mild off road. Tried a Mini-Digger from a company but the tires were not round and would not bead well on the rim. Company says the issue has been corrected and we never lost a bead but it did not look very good.
I put Konig Control 14x6 with Vredestein 185/55 tires on our '95 Atrai. Needed to use wobble studs to make the bolt pattern match and hub centric rings. All the best, Hein at DIYvan
I believe that they must not ship inflated tires on wheels, or maybe any tires mounted. Perhaps this is bomb or drug related regulations. I bought just tires and had them shipped on a ship. I can't recall how much that cost but it was worth it to get 12" light truck tires. Took 3 months for them to arrive. My experience with buying stuff located in Japan is that if the company is owned and run by Japanese people or American ex-pats, you will get good customer support including importation info.
My 1995 S110p has those same exact Forceum tires. For some reason I lucked out and my truck already had the 13" stock style wheels. They fit fine without a lift, but they look and ride better with the 2" one. My only problem is my truck came out a spare so I haven't found a stock 13" wheel to match without spending an arm and a leg. I can find 12" wheels all the time.
Think I may just pickup some Yokohama Geolander KT 145/80R12 tires from Japan on eBay and be done with it…lol Use existing rims, just need to clean them up a little bit and throw on a coat of paint maybe.
