    Hi All,

I have a new to me '93 DD51B Dump carry. So far I am LOVING it!

My driver side mirror is a bit floppy though, before I dig in and break some brittle plastic while trying to fix it, has anyone had any luck tightening up or fixing floppy mirrors?

    Thanks!

    Tighten the screw

if your screw wont tighten & you dont wanna fork out for a new mirror?

you can drill a hole thru & stick a button head bolt all the way thru under the ball & put a nut on the near to the cab side.. then tighten that down. it will stop the flop.

i did this on both of the mirrors on my first mini. costs ya about .50 & takes about 5 mins.

    Excellent! THANKS!

Yeah, the 27 year old plastic that the current screw goes into seems stripped.

Im going to try the above approach tonight.

    Thx,

i drilled a small hole toward the ball and then screwed in a small screw . i can use the screw to adjust the tension . the screw scraps the ball and holds the mirror in place . hope this helps someone .

My housing was cracked so the screw wouldn't get tight on the ball. JB Weld to the rescue! Used that and can tighten the bolt and the mirror works pretty good, I'm afraid to tighten to tight tho

I did something similar, and then coated the ball with some liquid electrical tape,
to give it some grip. It helps hold it in place after you adjust it!
I agree, don't over tighten it.

Great idea with the liquid electrical tape! I’ve never used that stuff?

Yeah, it has more value than just being used as a tape.
I forgot to add that, I scuffed the ball with sand paper first.
A small thin coat all the way around, then make sure you let it dry good.
Blow dryer or heat gun works.
I really believe with the lack of some parts being available,
and the cost when you do find it, that being creative,
can help keep your budget in line!

You are so correct! I’ve done some mods on my mini, I need to take a picture and update my signature to what I’ve upgraded

Remember, not to beat the topic to death, but the liquid tape isn't designed,
for friction use, as I'm suggesting, so with that in mind it works, but I don't
know how many movable adjustments it will take! But it Works!!!
