Record? No way! I've done 130 KM/H in my Sambar on I-94 in St. Paul, drafting a tractor-trailer from a distance. :D

Sorry Colin but that's not the record! I don't know exactly what it is but it's well past that!:D

At this point, I have to put on my Sgt. Schultz voice and say.. "I see nothing!..NOTHING!"

My 1995 Hijet has no speed limiting devices on it but I cannot drive fast because of the tractor tires with big fat rubber lugs. I may have to get some street tires just to have the experience of going more than 18 mph.

I think it's the current standing *naturally aspirated* record. :D

    (Ya bastard!)

Will have to wind it out some day and check. I drove it 650 miles home on a 4-lane when I bought it... 75% of those at 120... cruising with the "supercharger" light not lit in the dash.?? I'd guess 140 on a calm day, better with a tailwind, drafting, etc. BUT, that's only guessing.

I've seen an indicated 140kph in a SC Sambar. It was a bit floaty but not to bad. There are other supercharged models available. I have a 1989 Mitsubishi Minicab that arrived with a very stock looking supercharger installed. I'll see what it can do when we get it tuned up. There is another post about a Suzuki Carry with a supercharger that looks very similar to the unit on our Mitsubishi.

  14. EPA requires the speed limiters, they really go 60-70MPH in Japan

    Here is the deal,
US EPA requires the speed limiters to regulate them to 25MPH. Weld on shift blocks where the way before, now they will require electronic speed limiters. These trucks are being imported for off-road only. Dealers can not remove them or they will get fined. We (Yokohamamotors.com) invented the electronic speedlimiter and the only ones approved by EPA). The whole thing is silly, but what do you expect from the government?

It's especially silly (and intriquing) that Polaris is touting the fact that one of their UTV's (the RZR) goes 55mph!! Heck, I noticed even the Ranger XP they say will do 50mph! I'm not normally a conspiracy theory sort of person but you really gotta wonder about this one... :frustration:

Meanwhile, we have family sedans doing smokey burnouts and "heavy duty" trucks blasting through fragile environments at high speeds on our television sets all day long.

Of course Suzuki has a few F6A turbo engines in other vehicles.

The Cappucino, Jimny, AZ1, and Alto Works are just a few I am sure.

Why not get a 1/2 cut of one of these vehicles and do a swap?

If I remember right, those vehicles are around 67HP with a turbo upgrade raising the bar to over 100.

Of course HP isnt the only issue here... RPMS and gear ratios and tire sizes play a huge factor.

Got a 89 carry with a 550 F5A will bury the spedo with 13" all terrain tires and a 2.5" lift pretty stable. Starts "beeping" at about 90 kph.
