Anyone have trouble with the lock?? I can't get mine open. I checked oil the other day and it opened, but refuses to now. Any tricks?

Got it. Push in firmly on panel while turning. Duh!

Mine is the same way. It is hard to open but can figure out its unique stubborn combination. I am giving my sambar a complete restoration and will address this issue. Try pushing in on the compartment lid as you work the lock and spray the lock with WD40.

Get some lock deicer spray (or WD40, like Ridgerunner mentioned.) I'd imagine that lock cylinder is particularly susceptible to moisture. Never had a problem myself, though. :)

I have the opposite problem. I lock it and it keeps coming open when I drive. I think I will have to check the hinges for loose fittings.
