Enable diff lock in all gears?

Hello. I have a 93 Carry that I am running Mattracks on and I know that the difflock "auto disengages" above 2nd low range or about 25km/h. I have been doing a lot of reading but have not found the answer to my question so here it is.

Does any body know how to disable the "auto disengagement" feature in the diff lock? I assume it will just be a bit of rewiring but curious to know if anybody is doing it.

I am looking to keep diff lock enguaged through all gears in low range to assist in driving the tracks. As of right now when ever I get to any real speed the diff lock drops out (as it is designed).

    Thanks!!

    Cole,
Great question, I have been running Tatou4 for the past three winter's and searched specifically for a diff lock truck 2011 Super Stalker.
To be honest, I almost never use my diff lock unless I'm climbing steep banks with powder snow pulling an ice shanty off the lake.
Back to your question... I don't know the mechanism that disengages the diff lock. If you find it please pass it along yo the rest of us...
    Good luck
    Jon

You bet! Going to make some calls today. Hopefully I can get some info. Otherwise I'll have to open up the wiring harness and start digging.

PS. Nice truck. I don't think that mine has the performance that the Tatou 4S's would have.

    Work in progress!

Is it possible to entirely bypass the 'kickout' feature by wiring direct with a toggle switch?

That is a good point. That was the direction I was thinking of going if I didn't figure anything else out. That should work in theory. All you should need to do is energize the VAC solenoid for the diff lock. Thought maybe I could just disable the speed reference or something like that may be even easier. I am pretty sure it gets a speed reference rather than gear specific but not 100% sure.

I have diff lock in all gears of my Hijet, take a look at my post here:

    https://minitrucktalk.com/threads/s210p-diff-lock-mod-done.12246/

You have to be logged in as a member to see the pics. On the Hijet, diff lock works in reverse and 1st gear. It uses the reverse detection switch (also used for the backup lights) and an extra first gear detection switch. Both of these are on the side of the tranny. I obviously had the reverse switch there but the first gear switch is only installed on trucks with diff lock from the factory. Instead of ordering that switch from across the pond, I made a simple jumper and when diff lock is turned on, the jumper wire tricks the vacuum switch valve into thinking it's in first gear all the time. Diff lock stays on through all gears and is only released by the switch on the dash. I've confirmed this in reverse, 1, 2 and 3.

Again, this is only speaking for the Daihatsu.

To echo what little Jon said above, I rarely use the diff lock. I sold my Mule (that had diff lock) to get my truck and when it came in, I was non-stop until I had Super Diggers and diff lock. The exchange rate was terrible at that time in 2011 and I had a decent little chunk in the diff lock mod. I obviously wouldn't undo it now, but I don't think I'd do it over. It was nice to accomplish the task but I just throw the truck in 4x4 and go on.

True. I haven't yet felt the true need for full time diff lock. I am still just feeling out the truck. I couldnt help but think it would be handy but probably not necessary. Thanks for the info!
