Does 5 Speed have the same pulling power than 4 Speeders?

Some say 5 Speed tranny are less powerful than 4 Speed ones because the gears have become widend. Is this true? Tried my friends 5 sp and my 4 sp there seems to be a liiiiiiiiitle different starting off as we tested it with 200 kilos of sand as load. Any idea of the gearing ratio for these trannys? Thanks! This is my very first post anyway.

Welcome to the addiction. I think the main difference in the two will be at the extremes. The low low gear in the 5 speed is lower in 4x4 activity and the 5th gear is higher for highway driving. There are arguments for both but I think most of the guys here prefer the 5 speeds.
