Have a 1999 DB52T with air conditioning. The heater blower and A/C have stopped working. I checked the fuse for the heater blower and A/C and both are fine. Replaced them anyway to eliminate that as a possibility. The cables for the vents, etc. work fine, but when I push the A/C button or move the fan switch to any of the three speeds, nothing happens. Looked under the dash and can't see any loose or damaged wires. Both the fan and A/C stopped working at the same time. Any ideas what could be wrong? I have good heat coming out of the vents, but only when I drive fast enough for the outside air to move through the vents. Worked on it for two hours yesterday and can not find anything obviously wrong.
Not sure about your year/model, but check with in 8" of battery + connection, for fuse/fuseable link.
I had a "fuse" marked as 70 amps located in the fuse and relay box close to the battery that I could not pull out. Looked like the 30 amp fuses, but when I pulled on it, nothing happened. Will check it for continuity and see if it is good.
Like I said, I'm not real familiar with the 99, but there are a few more places to look. Also, pull bed cover and look at rear rail, right of center for control gizzmo. Remove rubber cover to reveal hidden wafer type fuse in relay controler. Right beside spare fuse. It might be one or the other, but my money, would be on the main power line that runs to the base of this relay controler. Pull hard on the wires and check for "greening". My whole system was fried from this location, just like you describe. Nothing was wrong with my fuses either. Lots'o flux and a little bit O solder.
Went and looked for a bed cover. Is this in the pickup bed or cab of the truck? Pulled up the floor mats in the cab and saw no openings. The wire from the battery in the engine compartment goes to a relay/fuse box about 8" away. I checked the 70amp fuse or fusible link and it had voltage going through it. All the wires are in looms and nothing is loose or corroded as far as I can see. The truck only has 19,000km on it and is in very good shape. I need to see which wires feed the heater control to see if it is getting power. Any wiring diagrams for this model of truck available? I will check to see if power is getting to the fuse box under the drivers side dash at the fuses for the heater blower and A/C. If not, I will have to figure our which wires feed the fuses and work back from there. Thanks for your help. Just very frustrated so far!
Yesterday all of a sudden the blower and A/C started working again. Obviously have a bad/loose connection somewhere. Will try and track it down. Just broke out the windshield by accidently hitting it with my tractor, so now I have bigger problems to deal with!:frustration:
