I have a friend rebuilding my s110, 660cc, single cam, he asked me about the two thrust washers that were laying in the bottom of the oil pan, I understand that these fit in the center journal. Is this correct? Is there a certain way to install the washers? Do I need a specific amount of play? Do I just shove them in and roll with it? Any tips or advice would really help.

  2. Laying in the bottom of the oil pan is not good…lol.

Install them in the journal with the oil galleries facing outwards. Coat them with grease before installing them to keep them in place. Also the S110P uses a variety of engines so you need to be more specific on what the engine is. The rule of thumb is if the engine has over 100,000 kilometers on the clock they should be replaced. These little thrust washers prevent the crankshaft from “walking” in the main journals. If they are worn the main bearings can wear unevenly and cause vibrations and then failure.
