Hello I’m changing the oil on my transfer case and after reading on the forum people recommended the Redline 75W-85 synthetic gear oil. I see it is GL5. I have a 96 Daihatsu with just 2H/4H. Does it matter if it’s the full synthetic hypoid GL5 gear oil or do I need to find something else that’s nonhypoid? does that matter?My understanding is it’s 75W/85 gear oil. Thank you.
The redline will probably be fine. Just check to make sure it is safe for yellow metals. The synchro rings are bronze, and some of the GL5s can dissolve the copper out of it.
