Put new fan belts on my S83P. I started it up and heard clicking. I looked over and saw the coil leaking voltage/ spark. I cleaned it well and used electrical tape to shield it. It stopped leaking after that. NOT A FIX, I KNOW! I already ordered new plugs, cap, rotor, and wires (they taped up from their prior life across the pond). Question: Can I seal the coil with resin or ??? It starts well in cold, hot, dry and humid weather, so I am not too concerned that it will fail tomorrow. Or do I get a new one and be done with it?
Electricity will follow the path of least resistance ( very Lazy ). The reason it is leaking to ground is that it cannot get through the wires to the spark plugs. Once you have the new distributor cap and wires etc. installed, you should be fine
Im also not getting spark off my coil s83p its a head scracher theres power to the coil high and low and if you check inside the end of the coil there is also 12v i notice there's a 3rd prong not being used on that coil as there are only 2 wires new cap new rotor asper reading almost all i could find on the issue here b4 asking i wonder if theres something limiting the bang did work on the ground wires new battery new starter fixed the hot wire to the hatness from the starter did the arc test still no love maaaan where is the joy
