Hello. I have a ‘96 Carry dc51t with auto trans. I think the carburetor is flooding. Sometimes, when I go to start it, the engine cranks but will not turn over. If I let it crank for more than a couple of seconds, the truck will shudder before dying. If I let it sit for a day after that happens, it will usually start normally. I ordered a new carburetor online and confirmed with the seller that it was the correct carburetor for my model but my mechanic said it doesn’t match (he was able to install it but the truck did not run properly with it) so he cleaned out the original one and reinstalled it. The truck started up fine for a few days after that but now I’m having the same problem. Questions:
    -is the problem carburetor-related? Flooding?
-is there a fix I can ask my mechanic to try besides getting a new carburetor?
-if I have to replace the carburetor, is there more than one type that fits a dc51t f6a?

My mechanic took pics of the original carburetor (first attached). I’m also attaching a stock pic of the carburetor I bought. Is he correct that the aftermarket version all the parts stores sell is not the right one? Apologies in advance but I basically have no knowledge about repairs. The only thing I can do myself is change the oil. Thanks! 03788CE4-41DA-4402-95FB-34A1E80946F5.jpeg 18BEFEA0-3C90-41C0-96FE-7399996BD5F4.jpeg

I too have a DC51T auto. I have also replaced my Mikuni with a Mohashi MCAS980. I'm interested to see on your original carb what looks like a stepper motor which my Mikuni also has. It is connected to the throttle. The Mohashi does not have this and no way to attached one either.
I am still in the process of getting the truck running and my guessing is that this stepper motor is controlled by the automatic transmission. I have yet to investigate where this stepper motor is connected to.
I have had the engine running fine in the garage without load. Not yet in a position to road test.
My concern is that if this stepper motor throttle control is indeed driven from the transmission, the engine might struggle when I get around to road testing.

Do you have anything to add since you swapped out the carb?
