Yeah it's frustrating to go through search and see what you want but cant open them! like the vacuum routes and what port goes where!
I noticed that some of the eBay pictures of the new carbs show vacuum lines on them already that you could zoom in on and at least get a few of those knocked out.
is the carb the same for a 1987 suzuki carry 3 cylinder.i replaced carb with a new one and now the running bad when warm problem is gone ,but now it floods when cold.can you adjust the choke the pull off is working but the choke is still to rich.thanks bruce
Take a look here if you are wanting to DIY. https://minitrucktalk.com/threads/93-carry-dd51t-carb-tuning.17990/
I could really use a copy of those pages. I have a '94 and just put a new carb on. The vacuum lines were all different and I'm having trouble. gus1@mcsnet.ca
My carb is GUSHING fuel out the intake. As far as I can tell the float is not stuck. When I popped the bowl off, this fell out:
Yeah, after more digging around I figured out that is a kind of check for the accelerator pump. Not likely to be the cause of my problem, although I've been unable to verify if that spring is broken or supposed to look like that. Still havent figured out my fuel leak. How restrictive is the fuel return line on these vehicles normally? I had to blow pretty hard on mine to get air to move into the fuel tank... then it blew some right back out at me unless I took off the cap. Either way it doesnt seem to be flowing well.
Apparently taking carb apart and putting it back together, and blowing through the fuel return, fixed that problem.
Anybody think that the carb flooding could be from bad distributor cap, took mine off today and all the points where the rotor makes contact are corroded?
Also when mine floods, I just pull fuel line off carb and plug with finger and turn the key till it starts burns gas in carb and then reconnect it and off it goes.
HMMMMMMM! Looks like you have a unique situation. It runs fine after you get rid of the extra fuel in the carb. So your getting good spark, otherwise it wouldn't run after you dump the extra fuel. I would still replace the cap and rotor if their old, that's just me! A little die electric grease in there on the contact points wouldn't hurt keeping down extra moisture! I also think the extra fuel issue is something separate altogether! either an adjustment on the carb, worn jets, for some reason you had extra parts come from your carb. What did you do to remedy the carb. situation back then? Just thinking out loud, trying to help!
Tex, Jigs and fixtures, just put up some great info on the forum under "truck sputtering out at idle, has trouble when throttle past halfway"! Check it out and I'm sure that you'll find it very helpfull! Limestone
can you please email me the carb adjustment pages also if you have any vacuum line diagram would be helpful also dont know where they all go. purchased mini truck didnt have carb attached. kaykaymack3@gmail.com
I’m still fighting carb flooding. When I remove the intake boot, fuel running out.I’ve tried a new cut off solenoid, blowing into the return line, etc. not sure if the float is stuck or not.after I get it running,it seems to run and drive fine. any suggestions?
Get a fuel pressure regulator and put it just before the carb inlet set to 2-psi. These little carbs only handle a max of 2.5-psi before the pressure will push past the needle and flood the carburetor. On the Hijets, and possibly others, the fuel pump pressure is regulated by the valve to the return line. If the fuel vapor canister is clogged, the fuel returning pressurizes, and the fuel pressure seen at the carb, goes up. The pressure over powers the needle valve which controls the fuel level in the float bowl, and the engine floods. With the engine running you can keep ahead of the pressure enough to let the truck run really rich. But it runs. I couldn’t get the vapor canister on my Hijet squared away, so I installed an electric pump at the tank, followed by a pressure regulator, and bypassed the stock fuel pump completely. Problem kind of solved. I still need to work on a better solution, but have too many irons in the fire right now to worry about it. Particularly since the truck is running great as it is.
So I'm trying to understand this, as the OP, JFoshee, started this thread on 11/27/2007. JFoshee, is apparently a mechanic, repairman, or at least Mechanically inclined. JFoshee, was last seen here on 2/14/2014 ! So, if I'm understanding, Oneshot, you're also looking for someone to help you with some Mechanical work? It would be great if someone, could step up and provide Repairs on these things! Just some thoughts! Limestone
One shot, look at the bottom of the thread, and it tells you when it was posted. If you click on a highlighted user name, it gives you some basic information on them, including when they were last here. You joined in 2010, and were last here yesterday at 5:34 AM.
