Can you Over due it with Sea Foam?

    I have a 1989 Suzuki Carry.

It runs fine for the most part....but smokes a bit when I start it and I have to pump the gas a bit when it first starts or it will die. Also when it idles it seems to be up and down. Will idle high...then RPM's will drop...then will Idle High again.

After the truck is warmed up it seems to idle fine and runs fine. ( i replaced cap and rotor and plugs and fuel filter and did an oil change about 1,000KM ago)

So I filled up my gas tank full...and dumped a bottle of Sea Foam in there....and drove it around some.

Not sure if it did anything. Seems like it idles a little better......but nothing too noticable happend

Just wondering if i should repeat the sea foam after my next fill up? or can i do any damage or get negative effects by over duing it with the sea foam....or will it not even make any differance if i keep doing it.

they had a sale on sea foam...buy 2 get 1 free so i have 3 more bottles left..tought i could put them to good use....

    Thanks

I don't think you can overdo it, but considering how expensive it is (not sure how much you pay but it's $12 a can here)..once your fuel system is cleaned out,1/4 bottle in a full tank of gas every month or 2 will keep carb gremlins at bay...my piston count is currently around 38 and since I've been using seafoam again regularly (maybe 4 years) I have never had a fuel/carb/injector related problem....I use it in everything on a regular basis...love it

    it's only about 6 bucks a bottle here...and they had a buy 2 get 1 free deal so i grabbed 3 cans.

How can you tell when the system is clean? I noticed some muddy looking dark water coming out of my tailpipe after i added the sea foam....is that crap that is coming out because of it?

you can run your motor off sea foam , so i cannot see how you can over do it.

on my old car i used 1.2 a can in each tank of gas for the first 6 tanks then it ran real nice.

And magic. I swear by the stuff and use it in all my gas engines. :D

Last summer I sucked up a whole can into the brake booster vacuum line and used Amsoil power foam to foam my carb. My mini blew smoke for 15 minutes and ran like a new truck afterwards. FWIW I probably could have use Seafoam to de-laquer the carb too.

the directions on my bottle said that if the engine stalls, you put too much in..... :D:pop:

i suppose that could threaten a hydro lock situation, which is bad...

I use Seafoam in my gas burner truck and also in my 6.2 diesel suburban that has over 400 thousand on the original engine. Normally one can about every other month. The gas around here has a lot of ethanol in it and really makes the gas burner sluggish. Using a can like I am keeps it running great. And for the diesel, runs and sounds like a new engine. Yes I have put it in the oil, but changed it after running it a couple days. Amazing what gunk fell out in the drain pan. I do not think you can use to much, but to each his own. Best after market additive I have ever used in my almost 57 years of being around. I would say, use it, and I do recommend it to any who asks.

All trucks that I get in for retail gets the fuel line pulled from the tank and 100% sea foam sucked into carb. I shut the engine off and let it sit for about 30min. then crank it up. Never had a problem. 80 % of the trucks run better the others I pull the carb. and install a kit. Some trucks are so varnished up they need a good cleaning and kit. While you are at it, it helps to clean the preheat fluid lines going to carb. from cooling system and lube the choke assy.
