Anybody ever tried to change the Speedometer and
Gas and Temp gauge light(s) in their Older Carry? I have a 1990 DB51T and the light has burned out which illuminates the gauges. Makes it a little tricky to drive at night....lol Any ideas would help. :frustration:

Oh yeah, Rookie Tip - Don't try to use the power from the non-existant Rear Defogger Fuse  (ie take the fuse out - why not I said - there is no rear defogger) turns out it also powers up the Axle Lock ....oooops.

    Dash lights

Well in my 94 dd51t I had to remove the whole cluster assembly to get at the lights.

It is a pain to unhook the speedo cable when you get that far.

Then a pain to reinstall. As in double jointed wrist (toung in cheek) All doable but if you have small wrists it will help.

I have the same problem with my 1985 Suzuki Carry. There is enough room that I can reach up and pull on the bulbs for the warning lights--I only know this because the warning lights will go out if I pull on the base, but I haven't pulled them all the way out because I probably won't be able to put them back in.

I'll probably have to pull the dash off anyway because that looks like it's the only way to get the factory am radio out. That way I can address every issue in one shot. Now the hard part is finding the time to do it. I was thinking of temporarily wiring an LED bulb(s) to try to illuminate the controls. I'm going to check with a flashlight behind the dash to see if I can get any light through to the gauges.

Thanks for the responses. I like the "led" idea.

I really really dont want to take the dash off. Tried to do it to fix a wiper problem......not fun at all. Got to the point of dismantling the Steering Column (to make room to pull dash further out) before I decided that it was too much.
(Good news is I fixed my wiper problem without undoing dash, Hurray for JB Weld!)

    Maybe over the Christmas Holidays....
