Hi ,, ok here we go , I’m getting a mini cab nex week a looking to do a good but not to expensive 2 inch lift . I live in wa state a use the mini on logging trails a some rides to town 50 55 mph. Can u guys tell me a good set up of lift , wheels an tires ? Still capable off rd but decent on rd. Thanks to all…
I'm no help in regards to what lift kit to use because I don't feel these vehicles really benefit from a lift. Maybe to stuff bigger tires in there but then you're working the tiny motor out even more. Do some folks out there have lifts? I wonder what the pros and cons would be. The stock approach angle is actually pretty decent and the occasional 55mph ride to town won't be an issue because this rig doesn't want to go that fast anyway lol.
I put on some 2" lifts, still feeling it out but so far it feels a lot better, even occasionally going 55mph and going up hills and bumpy roads. https://www.grimports.com/product-page/lift-kit-2-3-4-u15t-u19t-u42t
That's awesome, how was the install? Any special tools / skills required? Did you stick with the original shocks too just got a bit of lift from the kit?
I had to remove one of the bolts on the suspension so it could pivot out and I could put the hat on it, and the rear was a bit of a task you have to unhook the far side of the leaf, jack the vehicle up, and bend the leaf into the right place for the shackles, but I did it in like 2 hours. I also had to slightly drill the holes out in the front suspension just enough for the screws to easily fit inside, no instructions but pretty obvious what to do.
I just want more ground clearance … I don’t kno what wheels I need? Is it 4x100 an a 1/3 inch spacer? I’m getting the 23 inch focrum mud tires
That’s what I’m looking at . Was there anything else u had to do ? Like brake lines ? We’re stock shocks ok ? What tires did u go with ? Did u lose a lot of hp ?
my shocks are 'okay' so there still stock for now, they didnt need to get swapped or anything crazy like that, brake lines didnt need to get touched [that should be left to professionals, but never let any of the lines 'hang' as it can easily damage them!] https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CBKF8RKH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are the tires I got, very happy with them, no loss in hp as far as I could feel and I live in a very hilly town so its a pretty good test case.
I’d like to get maybe a little bit wider tire or jus hav a bigger stance . Are u on stick wheels ? I’d like to look a little bigger
What is with people trying to get bigger tires on these vehicles, lol its like the exact opposite of what they are all about....... IDK if it's just a guy thing or are people actually like off roading and needing to max out the capability of these rigs? Truly curious what we are gaining from the attempt at bigger tires on an already underpowered vehicle , just an appearance upgrade?...Just buy an ATV if you want big tires and off road capability
I need ground clearance an able to air down. I live in wa state an do trails that start as dry go to mud a then go to snow. . I live in the mountains a want something with heat a still make to go on rds to get to other trails . I have owed atv a side by sides also both lifted. . That’s reasons for me.
lol, its just an inch bigger, and 2 inches wider, the main thing for me was finding a 'source' of tires that wouldnt be a huge headache to replace down the road, so it was just a step in the process, my property also requires a little bit of off roading here and there so the tires help with that. but I do admit I like how it looks haha.
Fair enough! I kind of enjoy the funny look of these tiny tires but you brought up a good point about the size being a bitch to replace. I didn't consider that, I'll have to check to see what I'm running and compare it to whats available
