My battery decided to kick the bucket this morning.
    Thank goodness at home!

Anyway, I went to the local battery experts with the 40B19R battery my Acty had.
They came back with a NEPO M44 (see pic).
Never heard of the brand before.
    But it fit great.
    Same terminal size and location.
It's SLIGHTLY taller-the hold down bracket easily accommodated the slight height increase.

    It was $100 and change.
Yes, a lot more than the lawnmower battery options I saw online.
But, apologies to those who've successfully used them AND due to my personal past experience in actual riding mowers, lawnmower batteries NEVER seem to last as long as automotive.

Turns over a LOT faster now!

I put a lawnmower battery in my Carry but kept the original so it can be rebuilt. Lawn mower batteries are actually not a bad deal. Lot of the reasons they give up is getting cooked by unregulated charging systems and then sitting.. In my experience this is the case. My JD LX188 with a regulated 15A charging system has a battery in it from 2013. My previous Craftsmen whatever it was had an unregulated Briggs that would spike 16v on a charged battery. Those batteries didn't last the season on that

Hey MO Acty - Where did you find that battery? I'm having a hard time swapping out my dead battery and don't want to mess with reterminating the cable leads. Were you local battery experts by chance from a autoparts (or otherwise) chain? Did you wind up getting it in store or could you purchase online?

    Thanks,

    -Matt.

Nepo is made by INGA, id that M44 fits perfect, the important point is to look for the battery size M44 of any maker http://ingabattery.com/home/
Under Hybrid Car, Tractor, and Equipment Starter Batteries they list 2 M44, 44B19R, and 44NS40Z

here you see the dimensions, Ampere and connectors, terminal types, select the one you need http://ingabattery.com/home/battery-specifications/factory-activated-batteries/
    contact details http://ingabattery.com/home/contact/

or google for m44 battery, there are some on offer, compare the pics, terminals etc with your original one.

The original battery terminals on my battery are round and not square!

    Hi Matt,
Since I couldn't find a US cross for my old battery?
I went to our local battery supplier (Ellis Battery); they are my go-to for any oddball sizes and applications.
And I'll be darned if they didn't have it. :)
After getting home, on a whim, I did an internet search for a cheaper price but the difference was miniscule.....and if I have a problem? The local place is within 8 miles of my house and readily honors their warranties.

    Shogun,
    Thanks for the info!
