    Title says it all, huh?
Northern sells littte $40.00 tach/hour meter and I'm wondering if anybody has used them on a mini - how well does it work?

Do you know who the manufacture of the tach is? That will tell ya alot in itself.

    Tachs

I've tried different tachs but they have to be specifically programmed for 3 cyl. Contacted Autometer, had one done and it works great.

    tach

Unless it has been sent to the factory and re-calibrated for 3 cyl. it is reading wrong RPM. Those are set for 'even' cyl events not odd. Autometer will change one of their suitable tachs on a 1 to 1 basis, Equus wanted me to purchase a minimum of 100 tachs before they would make the change to 3 cyl.

    iEquus 8068 Tach

How does it install? How long did it take you to install? I have one on hold from O'Reilly. I will be picking it up tomorrow morning. I have a 99' Suzuki.
    Thanks

The install is easy on these you have 4 wires (1) red wire- switched 12 volt source (2) white wire- dash light wire (3) black wire -ground wire (4) green or brown wire depends on if you hook directly to the negative side of your coil or if you use the inductive pickup that clamps around any plug wire took me about 30min to install mine and it works great it's the model 8068 iEquus hope this helps you. You guys are all too concerned about what the tach actually reads. I have a cheap princess auto 4 cylinder tach in mine that reads a little low. So what, it still gives you a reference of the actual RPM that is consistant between the gears. How many of you have a vehicle that reads distance in Kilometers, but then go across the border where there are only miles? It's a simple matter of doing a quick conversion in your head. How many of your vehicles actually give you a numeric temperature reading? You can still tell if the truck is running hotter than normal.Just my 2 cents, don't mean to rant.

The thing is it's not that hard to find a tach that reads correctly. If the option is there to use a tach thats accurate and reflects actual RPM .... well I'd use that rather than a tach that is "representative" of RPM. Just sayin...
