Anybody running 13" wheels on an Acty?

I'm thinking of buying some new snow tires for my 92 Acty and am wondering about installing 13" rubber on it instead of the 12". Is anybody running 13" wheels and tires on a stock (not lifted) Acty. If so, what tire size ( ie 175/185 etc) are you running? And is there sufficient clearance in the wheel wells? Any rubbing issues?

Also, does the increase in tire diameter screw up the gear ratio to a point where your low gear feels to tall in some conditions?

I like the idea of going to a bit bigger rubber just to gain a little more clearance and also because I think there would likely be better selction of available tires.

But I'm not keen on doing it if I'd need to lift the truck and I'm a bit concerned about losing some low end power. I sorta don't think the gear ratio factor would be a big problem...I'd just like to hear from people who've installed 13" rubber to get some opinions on this. Thanks.

  2. I don't have 13" wheels, but I do have 25" tires. They do rub the wheel wells in front when I have 2 people in the cab. I was considering going to a 23" tire, but I'm afraid of loosing ground clearance. My truck is for off road use only at the hunting lease.

Here is a link to some pictures of my tires and my truck.

I run 13" on my '95 ACTY. Do a search and you will find that civic wheels will fit. I think mine are Escort wheels so I had to space out the front so they wouldn' rub the coil spring (two 1/2 washers). I run 175/70's. I see no diff in power and I use mine to haul gravel and wood all the time. It has a dump.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll look into the price of some Civic rims. Jakester, how did you rig up a dump on a unibody Acty?

    Acty dump?

    Jakester,
I also am wondering about the dump deal, I have a 91 Acty.
I guess the question is does your actual bed tip or is it an insert ?
    (Would love some pics.!)

    Acty rims

When I had my Acty, I used VW Jetta rims, no spacers, no lift with 165 70 R13. They were closer to the box but did not rub unless fully loaded. Se my writeup on the rear spring mod and front spring replacement.

Thanks for the pics. Does your Acty have any type of lift kit on it? Do any of the tires rub when fully loaded or while turning?

I've been looking at mine and it seems like there's not much space for larger rubber on the front.

Jester, here's a pic of my ACTY from a couple of years ago. The dump is an add-on

    Cool

Thanks for the pics. looks cool. Do you have 13" tires on the Acty in the picture? If so, what size tires? Any lift of any kind? No rubbing issues, even when hauling like in the pics? Your little Honda with the dump in the picture looks like a really nice set-up I would like to emulate with my 91 Acty if possible.:pop:
