    Howdy everyone,

Like the title says, I was gone for a few months due to work and my 1996 Honda Acty started up pretty rough. I changed the battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, distributor, spark plugs, cables, and siphoned the old gas and put new gas in. Last week before switching all the parts it was able to start without giving it gas, but it would lose RPMs and turn off after around 30 seconds. After doing all this, I can only get her to crank and she won’t even start anymore. Any ideas on what I could do next? I’m thinking cleaning the carburetor since the gas is actually almost 2 years old since I couldn’t drive it for a while, it probably did some thing to it. Open to any recommendations, thank you.

When you tear the carb apart wouldn't be the worst idea to change the Slow Cut Carburetor Solenoid and the Air Vent Cut Carburetor Solenoid or at-least test them. (Use JIS screwdrivers some of the those screws can be really tight) If you want to you could drop the tank on it too. Super fine debris can block jets. It's pretty easy to drop; 3 bolts. 1 wire and I think 3 fuel lines. I teed in a petcock/fuel valve so I can run the carb dry for storage like a motorcycle. Best of luck!

why did you change so much all at once, there no way to tell if one or more of the new parts are good or bad. put all the old back on it and see what happens. if it was starting then the battery and distributor must have been good. as for spark plugs unless they are looking really bad, there is no befits to changing good plugs for new. I suspected that your not getting one of the three you need: spark, fuel, or compression. check for spark, if there , then spray fuel into carb intake. if it fires then explore the fuel system. you must have compression, that doesn't just go away, but doing a compression test is alway good. Back to the befor - if I am understanding you correctly, it would start with out pumping the gas, and idle for 30 sec. then die. Would it restart again right away?

After starting in, while it was still running (30sec) could you raise the idle, did you try?
