This is my first post, let me know if I should change how I do it, thanks.
Bought a 1998 Honda HA-4 two years ago, has run great with no issues. I use it on the farm, work 3 months, travel one month, come back, no issues. This last return, the engine starts, runs 10 seconds, sputters and dies like like of fuel. Actually, there is too much fuel, it is dripping out the charcoal cannister. The engine will not restart unless less left to sit for several hours, then starts for 10 seconds and sputters out. It is fairly low miles, 47K, bought through TCV broker and picked it up in Tacoma.
I thought it may be the fuel pump electric supply, but not the case, I hot wired the pump on and same result but more fuel leaking from the cannister. I've researched the fuel supply and returns and vapor lines and come to a conclusion that some solenoid or valve may be not switching or stuck but don't know which one to test. Could be stuck floats? I'm over my head on how to proceed, was hoping someone has seen this and could suggest the likely problem. I'd hire a mechanic but this small town has never heard of a Kei truck, talked with two import auto services. I am good mechanically but don't have enough information on the system components and what does what when. Open on suggestions on how to proceed. Thanks.
