    Evening all,

Proud owner of a 2022 Suzuki Carry KC Edition. What started as a joke ended up becoming quite the adventure. A plan had been hatched to travel to the north of Western Australia, the Pilbara and across to the coast at Ningaloo Reef...
"wouldn't it be hilarious to try do the trip in a kei truck?"
It gathered momentum until I was test driving Hijets and Carrys, culminating in the purchase of this lovely dark metallic green truck, affectionately known now as Lettuce.

Can you do a 4,500+km road trip to the West Australian Pilbara & coast in a 660cc kei truck imported from Japan?
    yes!

SHOULD you do a 4,500+km road trip to the West Australian Pilbara & coast in a 660cc kei truck imported from Japan?
    probably not.

It's got a small lift kit, runs after market rims with Toyo offroad tyres... it never had a problem with any of the 4WD terrain. The only problem was the corrugations due to much larger vehicles not deflating their tyres and driving way too fast towing huge caravans.

I made up a frame that bolted in the tray and had esky, storage crate, toolbox, 4x 20L fuel jerry cans & 4x 20L water jerry cans all ratchet strapped in fixed locations... threw a oilskin tarp over the lot and off I went.

A few photos of the trip... and the truck...

DCS is my public Instagram handle... short for dumb car shop, since I have a penchant for dumb vehicles... also in the garage, Nissan K11 Micra Super S and a Nissan S-Cargo.

I'll post up some threads in the near future detailing dismantling the interior of the Carry since I couldn't find anything relating to the later model EDB-DA16T Carry.

WELL DONE! That was an awesome adventure!

You should get a pic with it next to one of the BIG MINING TRUCKS!!! I'd love to see it! My niece was over there, driving the big trucks for a few years!

I have a 2002 model, on the East Coast - not sure I'd subject it to the same trip tho - not really sure it would make it, reliable tho it is! ;)
