Hey guys, it's been a while!

Well, with this heat is Alabama my A/C in the 94 is beginning to lack a little. Took it to the local mechanic and he converted the system to the new 134a(?), but is unsure about how many pounds of freon it requires to fully charge the system. Does anyone have any idea on the amont of lb's?

Not sure about your vehicle in particular, but most Kei's seem to like 400g +/- 50.

I usually go with .8lb (12.8oz) refrigerant to be safe.

This may or may be of any help but...

This year seems to be a rough one on the A/C units

I have now used ( very successfully ) the following kit from

Here is the link to the exact kit I bought

$40 at Wally world in the USA ( cause I am canuk )

    These kits ROCK

    dispenser with guage !!
    tells you the safe amount

retrofit ends ( worked perfect on the acty )

Has lube and sealant built in

I tried 2 different kits that I bought in canada, and BOTH failed
    I returned them

My bro happened to have one of these recharge kits
    So we tried it

    Worked fantastic !!

I have now done 5 different trucks in the last month

I can't wait till I go back to the usa and buy more of them

Just did the Acty this morning
    it took 2 full cans
    Now my air is cold

Heck I think its worth it just for the gauge!!!
You can see what your pressure is at

I think they even sell the gauge by itself

    and check this

    My world is now complete.....

    and BTW
I pressure should be the same as any other ac car
so using this gauge should be fine
just keep it in the safe zone

    Man... this again..

The guages on these things tell you next to nothing. If I had a dime for every car I re-serviced after these failed...

I get $100 for every time..

Have an A/C tech do it correctly the first time.

I don't disagree at all Don

Only time will tell if lasts or not

Did my mothers van 2 years ago

    still works great

i am sure its a bit of a crap shoot tho

    Last year
My buddy had spent 4 grand over the summer having the ac tech fix and refix and new this and new that

And this year no ac again

he refused to pay any more

did his van the other day with the kit

    he is super happy

even if we have to recharge the systems every summer

    for $40 a shot

    I'll do it

here .... $100 will get a shop to do a test on your ac

a test that tells you your ac isnt working

4K?! Don't go to that guy again :)

I could rig a custom A/C system for that.

    Yeah, I agree
Pretty much re did the entire system front to back over the summer
    kept replacing part after part

3 compressors ( under warranty for 2 of them )
but still had to pay labour for all of it

he finally just ran out of both money and patients
resigned to the fact that there would no longer be a/c

so with shop rates here at over $100 / hr
even if we had to do the recharge twice over the summer -- woohoo no biggie

-- at least in my buddy's van there, he has ALL new parts :)
