Been doing some reading about the 3 speed hijets having a lock out plate under the shifter boot. Anyone have any info on this? Im going to look at my hijet when i get home.
On the S80/81 they did it with a spring clip in the transfer case that locked them in low range. I've seen Suzuki's use the lock out plate on the shifter and in fact know the guy who came up with the scheme. It's easy to pop off and throw away.
I took the e clip out, i have high gear now. Ive read that someone had a block on the bottom of the shifter. I saw a video of a guy on a suzuki pulling a spacer off ther shift fork the e clip was on. I also read about guys splitting the trans and shortening the shift rods. However ive only seen a post or two just wondering if anyone has done it here.
Couldnt find a blocker plate on the shifter. Tried to manually shift it with the linkage off and no luck. If there is a hidden 4th gear its in the trans.
I've never heard of this situation in the Daihatsu's but it's common in the Mitsubishi trucks and there is a snap ring to take out and free it up. Not sure what you're running into but as far as I know it's non typical.
