welcome! here's a link. http://www.minitrucktalk.com/showthread.php?t=2978&highlight=tach now about 50 people will tell you to do a search! larry
www.glowshift.com has tachs. you can set from 2 cyl. engines to 8 cyl. engine. You select cyls. on back of tach. befor istalling it. Around 50.00.
Equus has tachs you can find on e-bay for around $50. They will work for 1 - 12 cylinders. The one I bought (found a deal on e-bay for $12.00) has a back light, mounting bracket, and inductive pickup. I can't use the inductive pickup because I have coil-over-plug ignition, but if you have traditional coil or plug wires that would be the way to go.
Here is what I got from the Carry area. This is a quote from a question sent to Equus about three cylinder compatibility: 'Our model 6068, 7068, 8068, and 8080 will work on 1-12 cylinder vehicles. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to reply to this e-mail or call one of our ASE Certified Staff Members at 1-800-544-4124. We are available Monday through Friday 5am - 6pm Pacific Time.' I purchased the 8080 off of eBay for $40 so I would start there.
thank you very much. i am very pleased with all the replies ,this is a very good forum with a lot of nice people .just joined a couple of weeks ago but do a lot of reading here.
Hey There, Just my .02 cents , no expert. In the past i've had a few 3 cyl. outboard motors for my various boats, a few with tachs. It would have to be an indash installation but it seems it would work . Probably find used ones cheap at marine supply store. Thanks
welcome to the forum i got my tech from canadian tire it cost about $50.00 and it was easy to setup and install...on my mitsu anyway here's a picture where i installed mine. yep that is the right rpm!...it really like to sing
Equus Install Instructions Here is the instruction/ install manual for the Equus tachs listed above *** You need to set the tach as per the instructions [#4] to read the correct RPM ****
I got the tach mounted but only after finding out the tach I got off of eBay was a dud so to O'Reilly's to get a new one. I mounted it today but seem to be getting some interference on the pick-up wire. I'm going to re-route it since it comes up right beside the fuse panel so I might be getting the interference there. It does work and after this little inconvenience will be good to go!!
I got the glow shift and love it!! Works good and looks good. 7 color display and many mounting options. Under $50.00 and quick shipping. Here is a little tip- Enter 08Shipping in the cupon code and get 10% off!!!!
I put a glow shift over top of the brake reservoiron my Diahatsu. I bent a piece of 12 gauge steel and painted it black with a 90 degree bend. I cut a large hole so I could put it overtop of the reservoir cap and reinstall the cap. There were 2-10mm bolts holding the reservoir in place that I also drilled holes in the steel so the base would hold the tach mount. I notched out the steel so I could also re-install the plastic cover that covered the brake reservoir also. Then install the tach in the vertical part that I put a 2 inch hole in. Long drawn out process picture is worth 1000 words I will put one up tomorrow. The tach is a waste of time I could see having one on a turbo or supercharged motor where it actually revs up quick. 3000 rpms cold, when warmed up it says 1050 rpm. 7000 rpm at 110 km/h with a 5 spd.
We like Minitrucks. GUNS..and..being left alone by people who are out to sell unrelated crap....one of my favorite hobbies is taking a 3/8 piece of copper tube, sharpened on one end of course, and jamming it into my sternum..then I seal the whole thing up with hot roofing tar... welcome to the forum
I picked up the little $12 chrome tach that's on Amazon- haven't installed it yet though. I noticed a lot of people complaining here about installing the Glow Shift tachs and then not being able to determine if the readout was correct. I figured I'd take the $12 risk. Hopefully get it installed this weekend.
I ordered a tach after reading this post, but does anyone know what redline typically is on a 550cc engine? It's in an '89 Mazda Porter Cab, which uses the Mitsubishi G23B engine. Thanks!
I just installed one I got from the Geek website (china) it works and looks great about $30cdn , it can be set for 1 to 10 cylinder engines.
