Hello, I've just acquired a 1997 Sambar fuel injected model. I was really thrilled about getting a mini truck with a non interference engine. Only to find out after bending every valve in the head that it is in fact an interference engine. So my question is... are the valves for the carbureted version the same for the fuel injected version? I'm getting conflicting info both ways. and these valves are up to 80.00 a pc.
My understanding is that fuel injected Subaru Sambar Kei vehicle engines did not appear until Generation 6, 1999-2012. A 1997 would be carburated, if it is a Kei vehicle. Yes, the Subaru Sambar with the EN07 Clover 4 is non-interference. But the 2.2L EJ22 engine, which I read was introduced in 1997 is interference engine. But that vehicle does not meet the Kei standard with the larger engine.
