I find instructions for clutch adjustment slightly misleading for most of us. Because these adjustments presume that you replaced the 2 rubber bumpers (about 5/16 of an inch (8mm) thick) one on the bottom of pedal travel for cushionning and one to stop pedal from banging upon release of pedal. Before I checked for these bumpers the backlash was way off according to diagram. But after replacing the lower bumper which was missing and the top one, that was crushed to a 1/16 of an inch, I realized that my pedal was adjusted perfectly. And now noise free.
