Hi all, Installed a cheap stereo in the new-to-me Carry this weekend. I couldn't get a consistent 12 volts out of the existing radio plug (I assume this is why the factory radio wasn't working), so I tapped into the ACC circuit on the ignition switch for radio power... all seemed fine. Put it all back together, radio seems to work as well as can be expected for $30... Aim headlights (LED, Harness, work fine)... when I flip the headlights on, radio loses audio. It stays powered on. At the same time, I also lost running and brake lights. Fuses appear fine. I'm perplexed as all get out. Any ideas? I can't seem to find a legible wiring diagram for the 91, so I'm kind of flying blind.
Ground in the loom is switched and becomes 12v when lights are used. Make sure your ground is to the chassis and not to a black wire in the loom. BTW it will blow fuses sometimes when this is the case. I have a thread where I experienced this when I first wired up my cheap stereo as well. https://minitrucktalk.com/threads/replacing-oem-suzuki-radio.21762/
That's exactly my problem! The radio on this, in stock form even, is grounded to the chassis. I actually took switched power from the ACC circuit right at the ignition switch... Guess I'll look for another switched power source! thx!
And fixed... I have NO IDEA why tapping the white/black later in the harness works fine, but earlier in the harness (ignition switch) does not. It seems like Suzuki apparently enjoys changing wire colors at random times at random connectors.
