have a 2001 minicab, fuel injected. for some time, it sometimes runs rough off and on, spits and hesitates..lately often starts hard, spits, backfires, stalled once. often, when it hesitates to start, the engine will not turn over. can start it by pushing it, and often then is ok for awhile. new plugs, didn't help.
anyone else have this problem? would love to find the trouble, this way, can't trust it to go far from home.

    how's your battery voltage?

check voltage drop at the starter vs on the battery, especially when cranking or trying to crank.

clean the battery terminals and make sure your grounds are clean and no ground straps/wires are missing frayed or broken.

Mine did the same thing and for mine it was the fuel pressure regulator...

thanks for the input. I did find the problem, it was simply a loose ground wire, from frame to engine. everything fine, now.

    Hi,
I've got a 1991 Mitsubishi U42T - can anyone give me a specific brand of socket that fits down the hole to remove the plugs ?
I've got older SK spark plug removal sockets but are too thick to fit down the holes. Also want advice on best plugs to get and part numbers.
    Thanks,
    John

my Mitsubishi is newer, but also has plugs down a deep hole. I used a 5/8 inch deep socket but had to turn it down (or grind) til it fit the hole. then, found a length of plastic tubing that fit tight over the end so could start the new plug via finger twist.

Hey WB- thanks for the input - A piece of rubber gas line hose that would fit over the end of the spark plug gives some wiggle room if you don't get the threads started easily.
Once you get the plug turned down almost snug, you can pull the hose line out & snug the plug up with your socket. Can do the same thing when removing the plug - break it loose then push the hose down onto the top of the plug - finish unscrewing it & pull it out with the rubber hose still attached.
If I do find a socket that doesn't need to be turned down, I will post what I find.
    Thanks again...
    John

Does anyone have any tips on modifying a Mitsubishi - 3G83 motor to get better performance or put out a bit more power ?

Hi John, I had the same problem removing spark plugs from a U42V and bought a tool (~$10) from Rocky Mountain Imports that worked perfectly. Not sure if it's the same for U42T but they may have one and would know.
