Hi everyone I'm Daniel from Southwest Indiana and just recently purchased a Mazda scrum mini truck I think is what I've concluded, although the tailgate says suzuki carry it's kind of confusing anyway I don't know what year it is or what motor it even has, so any tips and info you guys can offer are greatly appreciated a picture of this fine beast is attached thanks and everyone have a great day IMG_6771.jpg IMG_6771.jpg

Welcome, that looks a lot like my truck which is a '95 Scrum. The VIN is stamped into the fender well on drivers side. If it starts DK51T it's a Scrum,if it starts DD51T it's a Carry,Same truck just a couple of decals and badges different. It's most likely a 660 engine.,should say on rocker arm cover.

A buddy of mine bought it at the farm auction in Mooresville about a month ago it's a little beat up and has a couple issues to work out but I think I got a pretty good deal

I'm not familiar with these at all I wanted one for yard work and maybe drive to the lake for fishing but it didn't come with a title, is there a process to get one for it or what is proper course of action here?

Eh, there is a law about mini trucks that you MUST title it with the BMV. But, if you didn't get a title for it, it says you basically have to get a court order title. If you are keeping it on private property, I don't see a problem with not doing that. With mine, I have all the import paperwork which acts as my title. What was happening was, people were driving them low speeds around small towns like you can golf carts and 4 wheelers. so they came up with this law.

So how hard is a court order title to get or am I just better off keeping it on my property?

From the people I've talked to, not very hard, it just takes awhile. This was also not on mini trucks. Buying it at auction should be good. You should have the receipt or bill of sale.

Yea I may do it I've got to get it running good first it gets water in the fuel so I need to figure that out

A lot of these trucks that I have dealt with had wet and filthy fuel tanks and cooling systems are filthy. As far as the battery I'd get the highest cca rated that will fit .

So do you recommend dropping fuel tank and cleaning it and the radiator or running like seafoam through the gas tank and a good cleaning on the radiator?

I just drop the tank and flush it out real good with high pressure water hose then after draining good I put my heat gun on blower mode and put it in the sending unit opening for an hour or so then rinse it out with about a pint of WD40 to get rid of any trace moisture then put some Seafoam in with the gas. It has worked for me. You should be able to see if the coolant is cruddy by looking in the overflow bottle and if it's dirty flush it good. There are a couple of threads in the Suzuki section on filling and burping the system. Basically just jack the front end up so the radiator neck is the highest point of the system then open the bleeder valve on the thermostat housing and fill the radiator up slowly letting the air find it's way out.
I've done 4 or 5 of these trucks and it seems like in Japan they use a mixture of battery acid and salt water for coolant, really a nasty mess.

Haha I love your description for their coolant I really appreciate the info I'll definitely put it to use, really glad there's people that know these trucks pretty well I've wanted one for awhile and finally got a decent buy on one, definitely cheaper than a gator or a ranger.
