I know there are a few dealers on here and just would like to hear or read their opinion on which brand of mini truck has the best mini dump option.... controls, function, durability, etc.

I own a reg cab '95 Daihatsu HiJet and will be looking for another mini with the dump option soon.

    Thanks in advance,

    mini dump

In my opinion trucks that have a factory dump have been WORKED. Generally they show much more wear and tear than other trucks of the same vintage. Obviously they were bought for that purpose in Japan. There are probably exeptions out there but I think you are better off buying a good, low miles truck and doing a conversion stateside. I believe diamondback has a kit. We also offer a electro-hydraulic dump bed that can be installed in ANY truck. It sits on the bed and connects to the battery. I don't have a picture to post yet but can e-mail you one if you are interested. Ships from the Mid-west.

Kurt, thanks for the reply/advice. I checked out Diamondback's website and thats probably the best route to go.

I will still keep looking for a factory dump that is in good condition. I'd like to find a '95 Daihatsu dump with the axle lock/diff lock options.

    dump bed

The dump bed shown is actually a very good bed (strong, etc.) but the hydraulic one we offer is considered the replacement for that bed. We sold 3 of the old style last year and everyone is happy with them. As a side note the Subie shown in the tow bar pic and dump bed pic is one I sold!

  6. CapeApe, are you a Mag dealer? I'm building 4 tipping scissor lift kits for 4 XXC Mag trucks right now.

I agree with Cape, the last 2 dumps I got were really beat up. Keep in mind the Japanese use these as DUMP trucks and they typically live a hard life before they are put out of service and exported. I stopped keeping dumps in my inventory becuase they required too much refurbishing to sell.

    mag dealer

We are a Mag dealer. I figured you guys were building stuff for Mag after looking at your site last time. We have been a dealer for Mag for over a year but sell very few by comparison due to them only being available in 2wd. I did a show where I got stuck with a stall that was smaller than I requested so I stacked a XXC (crew cab truck) on the standard cab dump bed truck and then raised the hoist so I could fit in a 20' length stall. The hoist lifted the other truck no problem and stayed in position for the two day show! I can also attest that the other products I saw down at Mag in Long Beach, which must have come from Diamondback are top notch.

There are still many good dumps to be found in Japan amoung the bad.
They are more expensive though and it is a good idea to have the physically exporter check it at either a dealers or auction yard before buying.
There are trusted dealers in Japan who you can still rely on, who will send many photos of the underside etc. Dealers who are unwilling to show photos of the lifted bed and underneath are not worth purchasing from. The small effort it takes to send a photo to someone who cannot see the car due to distance is a sale to them, so worth it in every respect.

I have several 1999 to 2001 Suzuki dump beds between Japan and Cameron, MO. They are in excilant condition, and hard to find. Yes in general the dump beds are in rougher condition that the equivilant non dump.

We were looking at dump bed conversions to install and carry. None of them on the market met our standards so we are making our own. They will be out this year.

  13. I can't wait to see your standards for the dump kits.

    Dump Assemblies

As most of you have found the dumpers are in for the most part pretty used condition. Good ones can be found for $$$. We found a lot of buyers wanting dumpers. We helped a couple guys & you know who you are to develop an aftermarket version. Well you forgot or chose to ignore me. .Well I have sinced solved this we now have dumpers to fit all the models that are equal if not better than any others available. They are made in a quality machine & Fab shop locally. We are now also producing bumpers, hitches, brushguards, roll bars & many other custom items. They all bolt on & any one can install We have them in stock now everyday to fit all models 1998 & below. We only ask $1250 retail & have great deals for dealers for quantity orders. Freight rates are exceptional to all the southern & western states. We ship free on all truck orders.
