Hi guys. It has been 7 months since I 'almost' registered my 2 Daihatsu trucks here in Puerto Rico. Long story short, can anyone tell me how to figure out the actual manufacturing date via the vin #? I need this badly so I can finally get them running legally here if they indeed are over the 25 year mark. My vin #'s end with 3080422 and 307792. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Check the dates on the seat belts.

Ok, for anyone with an S80, these trucks were only manufactured from March 1986 to mid March 1990. The seat belt date has nothing to do with the manufacturers date. Seat belts were put on after they were sold to be exported. Not sure if the seat belts were installed later at the factory or in the country they were exported to. The manufacturers date is on Daihatsu webpage. I had to have this info notarized by a lawyer here so I can register these Hijets under the 25 year old vehicle law. Hopefully I will have my plates this week, if all goes well. This has been a real nightmare here.

Done, after 9 months of discussions, some arguing and alot of paperwork, I can finally say that I have the first Kei truck legally registered in Puerto Rico! Now on to the second one!
