Mini or UTV/ATV??? What's your preference?

I would like to start this with two goals in mind:

    1. See what the preference is between mini trucks and the modern UTV's such as the RZR or Ranger (or any other brand/type)

    2. See what the better of the minis are...Suzuki, Daihatsu, Mitsi, other...based on ease of maintenance/parts availability/durability/etc. Let's rank them in the order they deserve.

So let's hear it! What's your vote?

I know I will never buy another modern, open cabin, no a/c or heat, costs more than some new vehicles, overpriced, overpowered, marketing money pits ever again! I'm spoiled to my mini...and it's only a '93 Daihatsu Hijet. It has hi/lo 4wd, a/c and heat, am/fm/cd/mp3 radio and nice speakers, 3" lift, Grim Reaper tires on aluminum wheels, custom bumpers and paint. I can go anywhere they can without mud and briars in my face while being cool (or warm) and listening to the radio, just maybe not as fast. You try to get those options anywhere close to a UTV and you will pay over $20,000. I know...I just priced them today! I can get at least four used Toyota 4wd pickups for that price around here. But anyway, that's my .02! Continue...

My preference will be a mini and will also be a van. I've had jeeps, mules, and for the money the mini truck are a better bang for your buck. Mine is used for the deer lease and also at our lake cabin.

I totally agree. I have 2 quads. 1 polaris side by side and 1 Suzuki Carry. the other vehicles all cry because I'm giving all my time to the Suzuki. Hands down this truck is the work horse here on the ranch. Right now it's about -10 C and it carries 50 liters fuel to excavator plus chain saw and few other tools plus my 3 dogs. Serious truck for it's size

Mini.. I can haul a half a cord of wood easy and still do 90 kph on the flat. I have yet to put a skid plate on it and ATV tires. But I have been using it in the woods all summer and fall. I have dump 3 way low box and ac. How many quadd have ac? In 4 low with diff lock on I have never spun a wheel yet. I am running Walmart winter tires so nothing with serious thread.

I've had quads out on the farm and they are good and all...get you around, do some minor hauling, but not much more. The side-by-sides offer a bit more room and hauling, but they lose some of the quad-like feel, nimbleness, ability to deal with airtime and such. If you're going to be driving vs. riding anyway, I'd go for a mini. Better room, better hauling, capable of similar or better off-road performance, street legal and less expensive.

    My 2 cents:

    1. My Mitsu MiniCab is used primary for the deer lease (I also have a Honda FourTrax atv...see indestructible), my buddy and his dad have a Kawasaki Mule 610 they use. My mini has a lift, atv wheels/tires vs. stock Mule with upgraded tires. My mini can haul more feed/corn, has protection from elements, goes places they wont try with the Mule, and out runs the Mule. Both are IFS and solid rear ends. Dragging 50lb bags of corn on the four wheeler is a PITA, and time consuming.
    2. Mitsu and Suzuki seem to be most common...but I only own the Mistu...soooooo

I know old post...but its a good topic.
