My 94 has a 5 so. In the shift pattern on the shift knob next to 1st gear it has an EL and indicates that if you went over there it would have another gear. I am not around the mini, it is in Arizona and I am in Montana. My son found the info on the knob. Does anyone know what the EL means? Thanks

Is it easy to get in extra low or is there a procedure that has to be followed such as pushing the lever down or twisting it or something? So I can tell my son how to get it in Extra low. Once again. Thanks

My son is 14 so any help will be appreciated. He is using the mini truck at a cattle ranch.
    Thanks

Mine doesn't have the extra low gear, so I'm not too sure. I'd try pushing the shifter down or pulling it up and getting it into the extra low gear, or maybe it only works in 4wd? It could just be that a previous owner nabbed a gearshifter off a climber edition hijet, and it's not actually there. I've heard that you guys in the states have to get a plate welded on the shifter to limit to 3 gears, that could be the issue?

My Hijet is 2wd so I'm not sure but on the Suzuki the EL only works in 4wd,not 2 wd. It's also only with the 5 spd. trans. I suspect that you have the knob from a Suzuki on the truck.

Agree with Jim on this. As these vehicles get older and pass through different owners, you have no idea what was done to keep them going. Been in this game for about 60 years and have seen some real different things over time. Most just want the vehicle to keep going and will use whatever is handy.
