Seafoam 1998 Carry?

    Truck wont idle and it used to smoothly. It has sit for to long ,,hope using Seafoam will help it.I want to use Seafoam on it but I'm not sure where to put it in? Ive read vacum lines ? Anyone know which line or how did you do it? Thanks for any help.

    That's a lot of "I don't know".
    What's the vin?
    EFI? Turbo? Supercharger?

    If it has injectors, then service them. If not, then suck the can via the fuel inlet @ the carb.

    If you don't know, then just dump the seafoam can into the gas tank, with a fill-up...give it to a 17 year old and tell him to try to make the tires spin.
    Burn that tank off and adjust the idle for 1100ish.

    This may not even be the problem, but will surly eliminate it.

    Thanks ,,I'm pretty sure it's from sitting and the gas has probably created some varnish or gummed up some. Hope the Seafoam takes care of it. Thanks again.

    I took the fuel line loose and put another hose on the carb and stuck it in the can. It would not pull the Seafoam into the carb. I am pretty sure I was on the correct line as I had to kink the hose I took off as it had pressure on it and gas would spray out of it. I just assumed there would be suction also??? I took a small vacuum line from a t and did get some sucked in but I dont think I ever got any in the carb bowl. Truck ran worse after but got a little better but not better than before.

    Bottom line,,,, I dont think I got the seafoam in the carb bowl so it didnt have a chance to clean anything. Ill try and post some pics tomorrow to give a better idea of what I am working with.

    Sorry, I ran you in the wrong direction there with the carb option. My other truck has the mec pump on the engine.

    With the carry, I siphoned the tank with a 5 gallon can and a length of hose in the fill neck. Empty, or pretty close.

    Poured the whole can of seafoam into the tank, fired it up. Ran it until I started to get a huge white cloud coming off the tail pipe. Just a few minutes, doesn't take long. Shut it off and let it sit for half an hour. Fired it up for 5 minutes. Let it sit for half an hour. Poured the 5 gallons back into the tank and drove it like I stole it for a good hour.

    Then I took it to a station and filled the tank to the top.

    Here is what I did,,, I took the hose that goes from the pump to the tank off and put a clear one on the pump, stuck the other end in the seafoam can but before that i turned the switch on to pump the gas out of the line into a pan, reattached the hose to the carb and started cranking while it pumped seafoam in the carb. It tried to crank but it didn't. I hooked the line back up to the tank and let it sit. I will try to crank it tomorrow. I should have most of the seafoam out of the crab as I cranked foe awhile trying to start it. It would almost fire but the battery was low and even with a booster I could tell it wasn't turning fast enough. It would still fire just a little. Should bust off tomorrow.

    Heres how I drained the tank. I took the hose loose from the carb and dropped it in a pan and let the electric fuel pump just pump the tank empty. The weird thing to me was the pump would only pump for maybe 3 seconds and stop and wouldn't pump anymore until I would switch the key off and back on then repeat. I turned the key to crank once and it kept pumping or seemed to.

    Do these pumps work this way or is there something wrong with mine??

    I got it to fire up , it ran a little rough before it finally smoothed out, lots of white smoke spewing out of my shop. I drove it around my storage buildings ,,,two buildings at 100 feet by 30 feet , I would hold it wide open and about 50 feet it would bog down like it was starved for fuel. It would run great until then but it would bog down before I ever felt like I was winding the engine to high.

    Any ideas???

    Yes the electric pump will only pump for a few bumps when the key is turned to the on position. All its doing is priming the fuel system. If you go all the way to the ignition point and engine starts the pump will continue to run. You can put your hand on the pump(inside frame rail drives side rear)and feel the pump.
    Should feel a bump-bump-bump. Most of the time I disconnect suction fuel line at the tank and use that line to suck in the sea foam. It goes thorough the filter then the fuel pump and direct to carb.
    If its been sitting a long time the fuel has soured and most likely has condensation in it. We go through a handful of trucks with this problem every year right before hunting season. The hunters leave the trucks at the deer lease or hunting camps for 6 months without running and thats a bad thing. Dropping the fuel tank and washing it out is not a bad thing but often the sea foam will do the trick.
