I have had this glow shift tach GS-T710 new in the box for over a year now and finally got around to installing it. After searching for tach installs on the newer fuel injected engines, I did a temporary wire hook up to see if the tach was going to work. I pulled the tach signal from the wiring off the number 1 cylinder using the white/black wire. I fired up the engine and played with the tach settings only to find out at best the 2 cylinder setting on the dip switch gave half the engine rpms, about 500 at idle and reved up only reading 2000. The search function on the forum confirmed that I need a tach with 1 cylinder capabilities. So..Do I just need to look for a tach that says it can be set for one cylinder or is there any other requirements to be met?
Have you tried calling Glow Shift tech support? I'm a dealer for them and they're usually pretty good about trying to help.
I gave them a call and they said single coil system use negative side of coil, multiple coil system use a tach adapter which they do not carry. I am thinking just get a tach that works, sell the glow shift and chalk it up to my mistake for not doing enough research. Thanks for the suggestion though.
