    Hello

    I have been trying to sell my Hijet Fire truck for months now with no luck at all. My father and I bought a number of these great little trucks last summer and this little gem is the last one to be sold.

    Perhaps someone on the forum can give me some insight on selling this great little truck.
    This is the add write up that I have been using on Kijij ;

    1991 Daihatsu Hijet 4x4 Fire Truck - You wont find anything else like it!

    12,000 km

    4 speed with Hi/low range

    14" new ice and snow tires

    Currently all "Firefighting" equipment ( loud speaker, warning lights, siren also including utility box) has been removed and put in storage so that the bed can be used

    Oil, oil filter, distributor cap/wires/ spark plugs were recently replaced and it is running like a charm.

    The price ($6,500 O.B.O) includes safety, e-test also all paper work ( verified VIN, and weight)

    Was just detailed!

    I'm open to offers and can answer any questions you may have.

    I would recommend becoming a Bronze Sponsor and then you could post your truck in the for sale section of this forum. I would also say your price is high. You can get a newer 97,98 Hijet with the improved engine and slightly higher kms with a 5 speed for $6500. (though recently 2 different lunatics have emailed/pm'ed me with trucks in the $9000 range but that is a dream!) A 4spd in Manitoba will go for $5500-$5600 with a safety, ready for plates. Maybe the firetruck accessories would interest some folks but a box with out sides is a tough sell. Either way advertising on KIJIJI, usedcityname, and the buyandsell it will still take a few months to sell a minitruck - only certain people are interested and can make the "leap". My $.02. Good luck - Ralph in Winnipeg

    There are lots of reasons. 4 spd on the highway not as good and louder than a 5 spd. Hard for some to justify $6000 on a 20 year old truck when they can get a Ford Ranger for $2000. I know minitrucks are cheaper to run/maintain and have less kms and etc but some people just don't have the extra $4000. Minitrucks are also different and some people are not able to make the "leap of faith" regardless of what the numbers (mileage, repairs, etc) tell them or to something that is unfamiliar. Some don't think a RHD is driveable or think they will have trouble adjusting. I have sold a couple minitrucks and I talk to a lot of people and answer lots of emails but it still takes a few months to sell one. My kijiji ad was getting over 100 views a week for 6 weeks without one email. Lots of looking not much actual buying.

    I think the video of Starpuss driving the truck in the lake and doing jumps probably didn't help him sell it either!
