    Hello!

My alternator failed on me - I'm not sure if "rebuilding" the alternator could do the trick or if I should just replace. I would definitely appreciate any ideas and advice... and manual source?

    Thank you

Yes they do but if you know someone close or a shop that can rebuild it I would try that might be cheaper and if they are good can get more than the 35 amps or what ever it puts out stock out of it

    Rebuilt the alternator!

It used to have quite a bit of trouble starting up in the mornings before my alternator failed, but now it's an instant fire up. Great stuff!!

Does anyone know about Belts that crossover for these trucks from a car? or do we need to special order them?

    Does yours have a/c?
    I got a gates one from O'Reilly but mine doesn't have a/c.

Belts are made by belt manufacturers it's just the numbers that are converted to an in-house catalog number.
So, yes, you can get any mico-V or poly-V belt in any length and any size, as long as that size is still being made.
Recently I used an old gates 5-rib to get the length that I needed for a mod.
That number was K050480, listed with a carquest # as well.
    The gates # is 5-rib 48" long.
Checked the gates web site; effective length, 48.12"
    What I needed was a 1/2" shorter, so I made-up my own #...060475
Then searched gator back site to see if that actually made a belt that size.
    Yes, "4060475" same effective length...difference..-0.62.

Had to order it cuz it's rarely used, or stocked.
    Slightly tight, but OK.

Hope that helps, I just felt like typing today..:)
