Well, as I understand the predicament so far, everything else being correct, it sounds like it's either flooded right away or is too lean right away. Post #27 by spaner is for flooded. Post #29 is for lean.

If you have a leaky carb and gas is in the cylinders initially it will fire right away then die as it runs out of fuel. I had a pickup like this a couple weeks ago. Crank it a couple revs after that and it starts and runs fine.

The warmer the air the easier the air/fuel mix. Also as the air becomes warmer you don't need as much fuel to get the correct air/fuel ratio. Helping with a initial lean condition.

    Hopefully I made this understandable.

Hey Chase, just a thought, these little guys are finicky about small things,do you know that the initial air f;ow setting is 4 1/2 turns?Snug up the AF screw and back out 4 1/2 turns and fine tune from there,Just don't over tighten to start, just snug.

I tried adjusting that but it didn't help the starting.

Why are the carb kits so pricey?

Must be supply and demand because it sure isn't content. There isn't $1.00 worth of material in them.I bought one for my Scrum and was amazed at how little was there.

If you don't want to pay for a kit just take it apart and clean it. Be careful with the gaskets and small pieces. A kit would come with a diagram of how it goes back together so if you don't get one be sure to remember where everything goes.

    DSCN2843.JPG This is a pic of what you get for $87.50 +$12.00 shipping for a F6A Suzuki.No diagram,no air/fuel screw,no jets,just this little plastic bag and a gasket.

For sure.I think the best plan is to tear into it and take lots of pics in the process, clean it up good and put it back together if nothing is torn up.The guy that I bought my Hijet from had his mechanic go through the carb and he just used parts he had accumulated in his shop for what parts he needed and it runs great.Of course most of us don't have a big accumulation of spare parts laying around but if you're determined enough you can always scrounge something up.

I have a diagram.I just don't think the gaskets will stay good if I pull it apart.
I don't know if there's any carb shops around me

The carb shop is a good deal if you can find one. They have a much stronger cleaner than we can buy and most of them now use sonic. In the Scrum carb all the gaskets are neoprene so if you are real careful they should be re-useable,my concern was a torn diaphram.
