I think its normal. coil is hot all the time and ignition shorts to ground one side when it need to fire.

that is completely normal..the windings could still be bad though..or getting bad...my bet is the igniter module inside the distributor ..it has a common Mitsubishi part # and can be sourced locally

IMAG0405.jpg Is the little black box the igniter module or is it the one under the Vacuum Advance?

the little black box is just the signal pickup..under the vacuum advance. :)

    Did you ever solve this?
I'm having issues and beginning to wonder if it's the coil or ignition module.
On my 92 mits that won't start now.
Changed fuel filter, checked plug wires were on right, replaced cap n rotor, all checked fuses, fuel pump works.
Have weak spark coming out of coil.
My module is mounted on a plate that the coil is mounted to. With number J121 on it.

    Anyone.......anyone
