2004 Vantage VanGo PMXi I Bought this used from a college campus. This 04 is a Chinese 8 passenger Van with dual AC and EFI! It came with 24 pages of repair orders. Good news at 12,000 kilometers it has a new timing belt and water pump. I assume it will be as dependable as a 60s Fiat.:) Bad news it is leaking oil. Fun to drive but, 3500 rpm rev limiter is a pain. Tried pulling wires from tranny with no luck. Tried to reach a few of the companies that advertise parts here but most have closed or don't respond. I talked to a supplier in China but need to locate my ecm to order a new one. When I got it there was a red box on the left kick panel that was buzzing like an alarm. I unplugged it and tossed it in the glovebox and forgot about it. Anyway at the risk of sounding like a broken record I really would appreciate some help disabling the governor.

Okay I fixed it, Not cheap but easier than you might think but. Bought a used ecm from China. Now it revs to 5,000 rpm & cruises at 57 mph/90 kpm. The oil leak was a cheap valve cover gasket. now at 13,000km. Heater core is leaking now when the heat is on. The red box was an on campus gps.

Hey old old old man, I may be a player on that. is it leaking from the pump?

Water pump is bad and leaks, unhooked belt to test drive short distance with block full of water, drives ok and is strong and if I remember right no smoke.

Seats bad, has full floor to ceiling removable divider between the front and back made of fiberglass with window in it,* fits right behind seats, floor in back not good, real rusty from mop buckets. Was used as housekeeping van on health care campus.* Dash is good, rear bumper is bad but I think front is good.* Head liner loose but you couldnt find another parts van like it for the price. Stock wheels and tires, 13s I think.

Some of the vents are gone and all the ac is gone but running gear is all good and all glass is good except the rear hatch, it has plastic in it.* Front doors good, sliders have big dents, rear hatch is good* and when I say good maybe real small dents ect.

Road tested the Vango recently. 110 kph! 5,000 rpm, more throttle left to go. 110 on flet and downhill 95-100 uphill or 20mph headwind. air conditioner is very noticable. Feels like it sucks about 15 hp! seems happier at 100 kph and 4500rpm. Will burn rubber and keep up with all traffic. Autocross next!

I wonder if there is an NGK plug available for Vantage. I found a cross reference for oil filters 90sToyota Camry or Fram ph4967.

ECM part number used from China.

Charlie, any chance listing the ECM part number and the webb site where you purchased the part for the 2004 VanGO? Any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks

You'll need to locate your ecu(under interior panel behind left sliding door or near right seat on truck) write down all the numbers "dwwr mt20 3690675435" and photograph connectors. Reason being they have about 10 different Delphi ecu,s. then text me for their email address. It costs around $200 shipped to your door.

Meet the Aloha Bus. I have painted it like a VW Mircobus meets Hawaiian shirt! It's been a big hit. I have matching Hawaiian shirt seat covers.
My muffler rotted off and I was surprised how quiet it was. So, I had a muffler shop weld on a new tail pipe with an Ansa dual tip. It sounds like a tuned exhaust. Other than a throttle cable snapping and a gas leaking from the top of tank(both easy fixes). It is running better than ever and looks great! This was painted in my driveway with Ace hardware rattle cans. I cut out hibiscus flowers in vinyl and painted over them then removed them. The smaller flowers are vinyl cut decals.
I need to start on the interior next. If you have bamboo lying around send it to me. I hope you enjoy the picture. Charlie

    custom painted Vantage.

thanks for posting the picture, was able to locate the ecu, ordered it yesterday, should have it in 10 days or less. You posted that you had a leaking gas tank problem. What was the fix? thanks

This is what I thought was a gps from the college that owned it. It attaches on the kick panel and made a buzzing sound when I started it. Still don't know exactly what it does.
    Chinese Progessive snapshot?

What does the ECU look like? I found a box under the passenger side dash with this part number: 3735080-V06. I am trying to find a replacement ECU. If I have to rewire the harness, that's okay. 20180117_171524.jpg

If it buzzes, is it a relay of some kind? How many connectors are in the "plug-in" side?

I don't know. It looks a lot like an ODB type device? Maybe an ecu interface to allow programming? Check for a Bluetooth signal in case it communicates with something else? Try emailing a parts supplier in China for info?

    UPDATE...

Emailed a supplier in China who told me this isn't the ECU/ECM/controller, so I'll look again.

California Vantage told me it is probably an older version so I sent a picture and I am waiting for their assessment.

Just need a new ECU, for now. Hopefully I don't have to go through the trouble of installing some "after market" ecu, since it might make it harder to get this thing titled and modded (as needed) to the point they (and I) will accept it for higher speeds.

You might give megasquirt and/or ecotrons a look as to your ECU matter. Just food for thought.
