What did you do to your truck today?

It did snow about 4" overnight so I was able to try out the plow. It works! Needs some fine tuning and I have to get the winch working but it was MUCH better than using the tractor. :D

I finally got around to changing the oil for the first time on the truck. I've been putting it off because I didn't know for sure what filter would fit. The filter that came off the truck is a MonoraRO SZO-10. The Walmart Supertech ST-3614 is a bit wider, but fits and there are no leaks. I checked the level after each quart and 3 quarts takes it right up to the full mark.

I also replaced the windshield wiper blades and the washer pump gave up the ghost. I had some replacements blade inserts, just the rubber part, and cut them the same length as the ones on the wiper and transferred the metal rib inserts into the new blades. I found a replacement washer pump for $12 at Advance Auto that I'll pick up tonight and hope it fits.

    fuel tank skid plate

I finished my fuel tank skid plate for my 2003 Carry. There was no protection under the fuel tank. I didn't think that would be very safe offroad. The frame and the plate is made out of 1/8 inch metal. I will post pictures of it installed soon.

put a 2" lift on the front so i could squeeze my new wheels and tires under my subaru. didnt put it on the back so i didnt have to extend the axle, dont trust myself that much.

Collected scrap metal this afternoon by cleaning out a fence row. Apparently, the previous owners of my property tossed all of their metal in a low spot in the back fence row. Found a few odd cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds and two driveshafts. I was hoping to find a copy of "E.T." for Atari back there! :p

  8. I don't know if you were aware but there is a lift available that does not require you to do anything to the axle, cutting the axle is just crazy. You can get a kit that just puts spacers between the coil springs and the frame, it works great we've lifted a lot of Samabar's 2" with it

Any of you worried about your truck being able to push heavy wet snow... rest assured these little bastards don't mess around! Depending on how deep the drifts were I was snowed in with 8-16" of sloppy wet mess and just look what Takumi did with it!

Nice. Our forcast is for 4-8" today/tonight. I hope to give the new plow a better test tomorrow morning.

You guys are making me jealous. We've only had 1" of snow since I added the plow.
Hey Keith you still owe us some pictures of your plow.

I lent my video camera to my wife's rollerderby team so I didn't get any video of the carnage unfortunately... well I got some crappy footage holding my phone out the window but it didn't turn out very well lol.

Just make sure you have enough weight in the back and these little guys are pretty much unstoppable.

2003 carry fuel tank skid plate

Here's some pictures of my fuel tank skid plate. Between the tank and the skid plate I have a semi-trailer mud flap and piece of foam, so there wouldn't be any metal on metal rubbing and no pebbles getting between and rubbing a hole in the tank

A few yrs. ago I broke a fitting on the front brake hose on a daihatsu S83. I took the hose to a Hyd. Hose Fitting and Hose shop. He ask me what it went to and I said to a off road utility vehicle. He went behind the counter for about 5 min and came back with a new fitting on the brake hose. He said if I had said it went to a regular vehicle he couldn't do it. Seems like it cost 10.00 or so.

General maintenance...new plugs, oil change, fluid change, replaced bad throwout bearing and changed clutch/pressure plate. Also mounted a UTV seat on the toolbox for my kids to enjoy riding around the farm.

Today I took some time and painted my front bumper and last week we added all the truck decals of my business name.
Hopefully this will help bring in some new work.
I also greased all the fittings on the truck and crane and replaced the diff fluid.

    Thanks Wedge,

    I love it.

I followed a little 600cc Suzuki mini today on the highway (nice and clean one too) for a while and it was so cool.
It was about 1/2 the size but looked so much like mine, it just needed a mini crane!

Now who's going to be the first to do that?

I'll try to do a write up this weekend and post it in my "Introduction" thread linked in my sig. Suffice to say, overkill for a little truck that never leaves this 35 acre property but it sure has been fun. Two Hella 500FFs with stock H3 bulbs and two older Hella 500s with H3 HID inserts. All properly relayed and harnessed. Lumens>horsepower :D

    Acer, you da' man.

I was seriously not going to mount my "plow" Hi/lows onto my "slider", but that's just fracken awesome.

Now I have to do it.

    Thanks for sharing...

Ho, yea..NB..note for wiring, pwr feeds. I only use momentary cut-outs now..12v breakers. Never replace or install a fuse where a breaker will pop right in. Any automotive supply.

Neat tip about the 12v breakers. I have not seen those. Yeah, I just used standard in-line "mini" fuses. Even for the Hella Horns. :D I should be able to finish hooking up the winch tonight. Just the + and - cables.
