I am lifting a 1996 daihatsu. How much are the struts and what else has to be done to get more than a 2 inch lift and still keep the cv aligned.

    Wheel Alignment

Sounds like you need a wheel alignment. How is the camber? Are the wheels tilted in or out at the tops?
It is not difficult to do a wheel alignment yourself-just make sure after you have adjusted your tie rods you back up for about 50 feet then drive forward again and check and readjust.

Yep, this is normal. All that needs to be done now is to adjust the toe-in. You will most likely have to adjust both (making sure steering wheel is straight) since you may not have enough adjustment on one wheel.

I had to do this to mine after installing a 2" lift. Did it mostly by eye until I got it close and then measured the distance between the front and back of the front tires. It's not too critical for me since I don't run my truck on paved roads. Good luck!

Newbie to suzuki carry 95 need help with lift!!!

Hi...I live in Nova Scotia Canada and just bought 95 Suzuki Carry. I want to install a lift kit so I can put 25 inch tires on it. I have read many posts on the matter and it seems most people have had problems. First off I am not a mechanic but I do play around some with the tools. My question...is there a workable lift out there that can let me do this lift without too much trouble? I would appreciate any good news and what the cost of the lift might be and shipping to B3Z1N5 in Nova Scotia Canada.
    Thanks Wayne

Newbie Wayne, I had several experiences in lifting my 96 Suzuki Carry. First I bought and tried to put a 3" lift on the truck, and encountered two problems with the front end. The kits are easy to install except for the following: 1. I found that the 3" lift cylinders for the front were very difficult to install because you are compressing the spring, beyond its fully extended travel, and thus you are compressing it. With only one person doing that, it is difficult and you almost need 3 hands. 2. After installing it, I found the CV joints on the front end howled and were at their extent of travel which I have read over time will cause them to fail, which is an expensive part to replace, since
both the axle end gets ruined and the receptacle on the front differential gets ruined as well. Both again are not cheap.

After installing and driving the 3" lift, I did not like it and removed it. I optioned for a 2" lift on the front, and kept the 3" lift on the rear, since I haul a cannon in the back and it compressed the leaf springs due to the weight such that with the 2" lift in the front,
and the weight in the back, it sits level.

The 2" lift cylinders in the front are MUCH easier to install, and do not extend the CV joints to their extreme, and the howling went away, as did the somewhat difficult time steering, even after a front end alignment following the install. I recommend using the 2" in the front, and if you don't haul anything in the back put a 2" there as well. The supplier I bought the kit from was Flying Horse Shoe Trading Co. 2803 E. Blue Haven Road. Tishomingo, Oklahoma 73460. (580) 443-5500 He exchanged the 3" for the 2" for me. You should contact him and see if he exports. I also bought All Trail Tires and mag wheels from him which are 23" diameter and with a small snip of the front wheel wells (see my post with photos on this process) they fit into the wells and work beautifully. Overall I am very happy with the lift, tires and mags. The only slight problem with the tires is that they are not exactly balanced and took some lead to get them balanced.

Good luck and hope this helps.

    daihatsu lift

I lifted my daihatsu with new front springs. Ten inch and 300 lb capacity. I also used a 1 inch lift on one side and a 1 1/4 on the other to level the truck. Seems to be working good. I used 23 inch tire with no tire rub and 12 inch mag wheels.

    Miniman,
Seems like you have a problem with anyone that is not in your selected few.
Your handle mimicks you in real life as well it would seem.

Thanks for the highlight to one of our over 4000 valued customers since 2001. He Captain Ron our valued customer had troubles & we gladly replaced it & helped him with his issues. Sorry but we are a minitruck shop, one of the oldest out there & the first on the web., We cant please all of the customers although we do try. Obviously we can't help you I suggest you seek help in the medical field. And unless you want to hire an attorney I would strongly suggest you keep your biased to yourself. You attack some of the best in the business hiding behind your handle, & if you personally have an issue with someone you should handle that in a civil faction not a forum that is designed to help people. PS Thanks Captain Ron

"MINIMAN", please provide your name and contact information.
We have seen your past postings accusing our company of selling a 2004 Suzuki with a rolled back odometer to our customer Santo in NY. You also posted negative remarks disparaging our business on another thread. However, that did not deter our customer Al in PA to purchase a truck from us.

We understand there are haters like you out there who have nothing better to do but at least come forth with your identity. Also, please be prepared to substantiate your accusations.

Just installed a 2.5" lift kit ordered on ebay from a dealer in Altamont, TN. Reasonable price and shipping up to Saskatchewan, easy installation, and ended up with perfect camber and no CV binding. Also came with Gr 8 bolts.

I bought that kit, but didn't install it. The spacers are 3" tall--not sure how you would get a 2" lift from that. Just by looking at it I knew it was going to lift it much more than 2" and I didn't want to deal with binding issues.

I'm going to replace the front springs and make my own shackles.

Hey guys I'm a newbie on this sight and have read through most of the post on this thread. I have noticed most people are talking about the clearance is mainly to put larger beafier tires on the rigs? My brother has one and I'm about to get a deck van.
Wouldn't the cheapest route for bigger for bigger tires for the ranch just be a body lift? It would keep all the factory drive ? Might already have been mentioned

Welcome to the site. You are correct but the trucks, except for the subaru are unibody construction. The effects of a body lift can be achieved but it has to be done by spacing suspension and engine components which is mush more difficult than a standard body lift and has to be custom made.

    I just purchased my first mini, a 95 DD51T (4x4).
From all the reading I've done, I want to lift as little as possible - if at all.
I have access to some 4x100mm 14" rims and my questions are:
What lift will be required to use 14" rims (still not sure of the offset at the moment)?
What type of trail tires (ATV, A/T, or M&S) would you suggest?

I'm not 4-wheeling, just working around the farm and want a modest off road tire that will be still run on the road 10% of the time. Reasonable ride & traction are what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Greg

    hi guys,

can someone tell me what is required when i go for lift over 2"?
from what i can gather from the forums
    1. space diff down 1"?
    2. do i need to space the engine/gearbox/transfercase?

reason i need a bigger lift is because my car has factory 13" wheels and 12" wheel do not clear the brakes. (it is a 1.3L 4 cyl da32t). so in order to fit larger tyres, i need a bigger lift due to the increased rim size

    thanks
