I located a water leak on the top part of my engine but don't know what the part is. I think it is part of the thermostat housing but I'm not sure. The leak is coming from the metal nipple in the cast Al piece. It's at the bottom of the small hose coming off of the carb.

Next question is, where can I get a replacement?

    Thanks,

    Harold

Hope this is the correct #, it is what's listed on my paperwork as the VIN -
KS4-141184. What year is my truck? I have conflicting dates on it.

    Thanks,

    Harold

I would remove it first and see exactly whats wrong then get a price quote on the part. If the aluminum housing is cracked I would remove it and have it welded or brazed.
That would be the most cost effective way to fix it.
It could be just the seal between the rubber hose and nipple. New house would fix that.

  5. Thanks for the help Donald, we sold him that truck but couldn't identify the culprit that was causing the leak!!

Both hoses are new. I replaced the larger one first only to discover I still had a leak. So I replaced the smaller one and even after slipping the hose further onto the fitting was unable to stop the leak. I was unable to get my borescope focused good enough to tell exactly what was going on.

Really don't want to take it apart in case I can't repair the part and then I have to decide whether to reassemble it with the bad part OR leave the truck unusable until I can find a replacement.

Well my paperwork did have the date correct then, it was 'penciled' in 12/92. Thanks for the confirmation.

I don't believe my housing looks exactly like the one in the diagram. Please tell me the drawing is a generic one.

    Thanks,

    Harold

P.S. Shipping costs scare me almost as much as the cost of the part. :(
