Idle problem 92 Carry

I have an idle problem with my 92 Carry. When it is cold, it starts fine and idles properly. When it warms up and the choke comes off, then the idle fluctuates up and down almost stalling. Sometimes it does stall. As it idles up and down, it sound as if "for a split second'' as if the ignition had been switched off and then back on quickly! When comming down hill with clutch engauged and no throttle- it will back fire!

sounds like idle air mixture and or throttle stop adjustment

I have a 92 DD51T. Would die after it warmed up...then hard as he** to start...and was very rich! Started to find with carb. cleaner...vacume leaks. Found one between intake and spacer between intake, and carb. Then have been seeing leaks on some of the old vacume lines. Just a thought. I'm sure when I am done...will have to re adjust air/fuel screw...

where is the idle air mix? I only one I know of is the throttle adj. screw!

post up some pics of the carb, including the left side(rear) with some # at the set screews, and I'll tell you how to go about adjusting it.
Won't help you much though if you haven't eliminated ALL of the vac leaks. There is no mixture adjustment per say, like you'd see on a holly, just co2 fine adjustment, which means nothing for the performance.
Eliminate the leaks, be ready to reset the timing on the fly, in conjunction with the carb adjustments, BTY, Idle should not be set via the accelerator pump-stop, set screw.

Forgot, both you and Aligator, your direct symptoms described are due to an improperly adjusted "idle-up" actuator. It will try to catch the stalling engine, only after vacuum is lost, too late, bang, not what it's for, it's for throttle reposition, prior to restart.

Mixture screw is on top at the closest point to where the carb bolts onto the intake manifold..may or may not have a plastic cap on it

On the Carry, Fupa, thats the co2 fine adjustment. You can set that all the way down, or all the way up, makes no performance differance.

Nice job on the wheel bearings by the way, Fupa's video teck corner.
You do just enough so that the "don't knows" can figure it out, and not too much, so that the rest of us don't get bored.:D

    Stupid Domminican WiFi:frustration:

Lol thanks.....I was thinking the idle air only when he mentioned off throttle backfiring...but if that's only a fine adjustment for then yeah it's prob. not the issue...on the Daihatsu and the Mits. the idle air can make a fairly big difference

Believe it or not, that's the only reason that I run water meth injection now. The backfireing after a hard bosted pull, down to closed buterfly. Can't change the mixture on these little bastards, it's all done by jetting...and a little leaking on the old ones. No meth, bang.bang..bang..bang, every time, big exhaust now though; with meth...no bangs, octain's too high in the exaust. But that's all just me.

I had adjusted the carb previous to boosting, and it is complicated to set it up properly. Not too bad if you go through the proper sequence.;)

Sorry, I may be talk'en funny, cuz I had some cubrelibras:D
