I am mounting a 2" lift kit on my 1993 Daihatsu, and the next issue is off road tires. I'm told that the Carlisle "All Trail" can be mounted on the original wheel. That would be an obvious bonus, if true. However, these tires are 23" so they do sacrifice a bit of ground clearance. Judging by the pictures of the tire, they don't have the most aggressive tread pattern. Are they a good compromise? Does anyone here use them? Are they a good choice? I'd sure appreciate feedback as I want to get my truck mobile ASAP! Thanks.
I am doing the same thing. I would like to know if these tires are road legal in Canada. are they any good? how is the road noise? my original tires are 145/70r12. Which is about 20" in Diameter. I like to to go to 23s to gain a bit of highway seed. what is the speed rating on these? are they any good after 60 to 80 KM/h? any info would be great.
In my world the Carlisle are ok. Every truck that we get for retail comes out of our shop wearing "AMS Swamp Fox 6 ply". 23x8x12 or 24x8x12's. Ive sold over a 1000 of these tires over the years and never had a complaint. Give them a look for the heck of it. They are not for hard surface like cement or pavement. If you do much of that driving I would go with the Carlisle. The ideal tire is the ones that have Kevlar but at 200+ a tire they are a little steep. Ive only sold one set of them.
I am planning to drive it mostly on pavement with an odd time of going off road. that is why I need a tire that is going to be quite as well. I think the tires you have shown would be very noisy on hard surfaces.
No DOT rating on quad tires = not street legal. Get some 13" rims then go to can tire and by Nordic Track winter tires. Street legal. Save your 12" rims and mount quad tires
I have looked at Canadian tire for 13" rims. but no one has my bolt pattern. 4 x 110. it doesn't matter to me if they are alum. or steel. I just can't find 13" rims.
There are ATV tires that are DOT certified; I used to have some. They are EFX Blades and they're a DOT Certified Radial ATV tire. Offroad: Onroad: Loud as hell, but they held up quite nicely with pavement driving and performed pretty decent off road also. A good compromise.
