I had a problem 2 months ago. Driving down the Yellowhead here in Edmonton, my 89 Honda Acty died. No spark. Found out the coil is cooked! Tried a local Honda motorcycle shop and they would not try to match it up . Asked a couple sponsors the cost of one, was over $150 if they can order from Japan . Went to Alberta Honda and talked to Gilbert, he searched the parts catalogs and found a replacement . If you are in Edmonton, Ab. and need a Honda part or upgrade (aftermarket part), I recommend you go see Gilbert, he knows his stuff!! Honda coil (2 connectors, 1 with 2 small pins, the other 2 large pins) Part # 141-5061 $80+gst Robert
It's nice to know there are still some dealers out there that want to do business. I'm always amazed at how some parts departments at dealers won't even try to match something up for you unless you have a part number. I also have a Honda NT400 motorcycle. It was never sold in Canada but it is basically a Hawk 650gt with a sleeved down engine, most of the component parts are the same. Two local Honda dealers I know won't even pull out the parts books if I mention it is an NT400! So if I need parts now I don't even bother with them, I just buy them online out of England. Then they complain how there is no business for them in the vintage bike market! Glad ya found a parts guy that can help!
Can't you just run another 12v coil in a pinch? (Like one for an old dodge d50/ mitsubishi) I have a 4 cyl mitsu/cushman, and coil is bad, no spark. Can't find one locally. Would it be alright? Any suggestions guys?
If it is 2 connection coil (+ and -) you can get away from stock parts. Mine had 4 connectors and I could not meter it out (really dead). Have you tried to go to Mitsu and talked to a RELIABLE partsman? The one that has been there the longest may be able to match it up.
I bought a coil for my 1992 Acty from our local Piston Ring auto parts store for around $75.00. The brand name on the box is Original Engine Management and the numbers on the box are 5081 UF-63. It's actually for a late 80s Honda Prelude, I think. I installed it a few days ago and it works perfectly.
Honda coil got it IF YOU GO TO LOCAL PARTS HOUSE AND ASK FOR A COIL FOR A 1986 Acura Integra LS 1.6L, ADVANCED AUTO PARTS IS BWD Ignition Coil Part No. E551P FOR BOUT 60 BUCKS
I have a problem with my ignition module. Bought a new one but the fool that owned my Acty previously modified it cos he couldn't find an original. He moved all the wiring from inside the distributor to outside the distributor. I managed to get an orginal but can't fit it without a wiring diagram. Please if anyone can help, email a diagram to halaalmeats@gmail.com thanks in advance
