Hello all! Recently my '91 Carry has been giving me a oil press. light on the dash after its warmed up and has been running awhile. I suspect a tired old pressure switch. However I'd like to be sure and make sure it not a low pressure problem cause by sludged-up oil passages or a weak oil pump. Before I start getting dirty, can anyone tell me where to start looking for the pressure switch on my truck? Right, left side? Top bottom? Also, what sort of oil pressure is normal? oil pressure should be around 3-4.4 bar.........1 bar =14.5 psi...so 45psi at idle...70 at full scat....your pressure relief valve could be sticking...oil could be too thin..if you are using a 5w30 or 10w30 that may be too thin for the summer..is the truck running too warm??.clogged passages are a possibility...and an oil flush isn't a bad idea

I haven't been under a Carry but the switch should have a single wire coming off it and would be near the oil pump/filter near the bottom of the engine...looks like a large nut with a wire attached to it...your pump is on the front of the engine by the crank pulley..so it should be close to that
I have tons of experience with this sort of thing. Just not on my mini truck Before I got stuck into the project I wanted to get as much info about it as I could. It all worked out fine. I found the transmitter (under the truck beside the oil filter) and a found that the wire had chaffed through in a couple spots and was grounding out to the block. I replaced the wire and "problem solved". Thanks for you input and advice. I am very glad it was an easy fix and not something more serious.
